This Can't Be Happening

The words were still sinking into my head. Both of my parents are getting deployed, both of them. I could handle my mom OR dad, I have many times before, but not both of them. "Why?"

"What honey?"

"Why? Why are you both getting deployed?"

"They need more higher ranked officals, and they thought we would be perfect."

"But does that me we have to leave again? We just got here. I actually made friends. I can't leave now!"

"Your not going to. Tristan is going to be taking care of you. Your 15 years old, you can take care of yourself for the most part. We're going to be fine, just a sea away."

I had to get out of that room that instant. I could feel the tears swelling up in my eyes. I can't cry in front of them, I can't!

I take off up the stairs and down the hallway until i burst through the door to my room. I quickly slam the door and flick the switch to lock the door. I can't hold it together any longer. I colapse onto my bed, tears streaming down my face. I never cry, never. I was always told that it was a sign of weakness but, when you're strong for too long, you need to cry. All you need is a crack and suddenly, all control is lost.

This was my crack, and it was the biggest yet. How could they take my mom and my dad away from me? Their superiors know that they have 2 kids. Yeah Tristan is 19 but the 15 year old should have come into consideration. This can't be happening. "Sash, come out, please." I should have guessed Tristan would come sooner or later.

"No!"

"Im going to sit out here until you come out."

"You'll be sitting there all night."

"Good thing I've got full battery on my phone and a unlimited supply of games." He never gives up does he?

"Uggh give me a minute." I quickly get up and run into the bathroom attached to my room. Going over to the sink, I splash some cold water in my face, trying to get the red blotchyness to die down. Quick fix of makeup and hair and it's the most normal I can look.

"Nice try. Now matter how much concealer or cold water you use, you can't get rid of the puffyness around your eyes." Damn, so close. "I know that this is really hard for you, it's hard for me too. We can make it through this, just you and me. And hey, you can always invite your friends over and throw some parties, I'm the most easy going guardian ever."

I can't help but let out a giggle. Tristan's right, we can do this, we always do. "I've got to go help with dinner, I'll call when it's ready."

"Ok, and they better be some pretty good parties."

"Oh trust me, they will be." With a quick wink and a chuckle, he set off down the hallway.
