If the ride to the formal was any hint to how the night would go, I knew that this night was going to be amazing. Mini sodas and hanging out with my friends, it was so much more than I would have ever hoped. When we got to the formal, I didn't want to get out of the limo, but i knew I had to. Amber and Jack quickly got out, followed by me and Chase. Behind us was Cat and Nick (I found out his name on the ride) and everyone else followed shortly behind.

The gym looked, well, like a gym with decorations. I'm not sure exactly what I expected but the juniors did pretty good with the little they had to work with. There were icy blue, white, and darker streamers hanging all around and light blue table cloths on everything. There were fake snowflakes speckling the walls and blue light filling the room, courtesy of the lights for the disco ball having a blue film on them. It honestly looked great, I hope our grade can do that well next year.

"Don't forget to vote for your Winter Formal prince and princess." The announcement stopped as quickly as it started.

"Hey, Cat, maybe you'll win again like you did last year."

"Come on, Gabby. I'm not going to win again. It's super rare for someone that's not a junior to win, it's not going to happen again." Wait, why aren't the seniors the ones expected to win? I decided to let those two bicker and ask someone else instead.

"Hey, Amber, how come no one talks about the seniors winning?"

"They don't come to this. They've got their own hangout thing that they do instead each year. It's suppose to give some of the lower classmen a chance to win something. Cat won princess last year, and freshmen almost never win."

"Everyone thinks that Chase is going to win Prince this year." Why am I not suprised Noel knew all about this stuff?

"When everyone's got that attitude, no one's going to vote for me, I'm not going to win. Maybe runner up."

"Ok enough talk, let's dance!" I couldn't agree more.

"Wait, we need to vote first." Amber always wants to get stuff done early. Wait, do I even know any juniors? I guess i'll just vote for people i know then. Chase is a pretty obvious vote, but what girl? Cat won last year, Gabby's not from the school so she's out, Noel said she didn't want to even be in that box, so Amber wins. After we've all casted our votes we go back to dancing around and eating everything in sight.

It seems like every time i look at the clock, a hour has passed since the last time, I guess time really does fly when you're having fun. It seemed like we were only here for a hour, if that, when the formal prince and princess crowning started.

First was the runner ups. Prince... Chase Roberts! It wasn't what people expected but thats the crowd affect there. Princess... Amber Brooks! The look of shock spread across her face and she needed a little push to get her feet to start moving. Now onto the 'full' prince and princess. The prince was called, some junior who i've never heard of before. Then princess, "... And you're 2013 Winter Formal Princess... Sasha Macintosh!" Wait, what?!? This time it was me that needed a push to get moving.

Suddenly every though in my head stopped as I got up on stage to get my tiara and flowers. I must look like a smiling idiot. The teachers/ chaperones took a couple of pictures and let us go down for the only slow song played all night. Walking off stage, I saw Mrs. Brown standing by the opposite wall. I quickly walked up to her her, "would you mind holding my flowers for me?"

She repoonded with an always cheerful smile, "Not at all. And i was hoping that you and Chase might have something. He needs a good girl in his life."

"Thank you Mrs. Brown." Truthfuly things would be a lot different without her. I wouldn't have sat next to Chase in 3rd period and we never would have started talking.

"Do you want to dance?" I turned to see Chase standing next to me.

"Is that even i question?" He lead me over to the center dance floor and into the spotlight that covered Amber and Jack as well as the other winner. The soothing music soon filled the entire gym. Looking around, I'm surrounded by all of my new friends. All of them dancing with their dates and I can't help but think about how much they've changed my life. Cat, Noel, Gabby, and Amber, all of my newest friends and the closest friends I've ever had.

Thinking back to my first day, if Amber had never come up to me, I wouldn't have had any of these friends, I wouldn't be here right now. To think, I never wanted to move here. I was begging my parents not to move, but now, I can't imagine my life if I had stayed.

"You really deserved to win princess."

"By what logic?"

"Most of the time is the prissy queen bees that win. It was time that a real girl won."

"You should have won prince."

"There's always next year." He smiled down at me and I couldn't help but smile too. "Honestly, I couldn't believe that a girl like you would go out with me."

"A girl like me?"

"Beautiful, smart, funny, amazing personality, the cutest laugh I've ever heard. You always have stuff to talk about and so easy to relax around."

"Really?" Did he really think of me like that?

"Yeah, your amazing..." I looked up to him and he leaned his head down. Suddenly, his lips pressed against mine.
