By Monday, I was feeling a lot better. Mom and Dad called me when they got to Iraq so I'd know they got there safely. Yes, that might be the last time I talk to them for a very long time but I can handle that.
Everything was very normal about Monday until art. Chase and I were talking, like we always do, while working on our assignments. We had to draw a 'perfect winter scene' and I think mine was turning out pretty good. All of a sudden, I hear a voice next to me, "Are you going to the winter formal?"
"Really, Chase? Everyone's going."
"True. Are you going with anyone?"
"No ones asked me so, no."
"Want to go with me?" And with those five words, my heart stopped. Chase Roberts, the hottest guy at Crestview High, is asking me to the winter formal! Oh God, I sound like Amber and Cat now. I could only get one word out,
"Yes."
It wasn't ten minutes into lunch and I was getting questioned like mad. It seemed like every girl at my table wanted to know every detail from when Chase asked me to the dance. After about fifteen minutes of non-stop questioning, Noel jumped in. "What are you going to wear?"
That was a good question. I really didn't think about what I was going to wear. "I don't have anything picked out..."
"We should go shopping!" I swear that's Cat's answer to everything. But, it's not a bad idea this time. I needed a new dress, and who's better to help me find one?
"I'm in."
The girls took no time at all. The second those two words left my lips, they where planning.
What day: tomorrow after school.
What time: 2:45.
What stores: I don't remember all of them.
I was just starting to think that maybe this wasn't the best idea when I glanced to the table next to us. To my suprise, there sat Chase. "Since when are you in this lunch?"
"Only this week. Weird schedule thing with football. So I hear your friends are taking you shopping."
"Eavesdropper much? Yeah, we're going dress shopping."
"Just make sure you tell me what color it is so I don't clash."
"Sure thing, but you have to wait until that night to see it."
"I think i can live with that." Suddenly I was pulled back into my own table conversation and Chase, his own. It's as if no one even noticed we were talking to other people. Well, now it's shopping time.
