POEM #14: COARSE

The world may at times be a coarse affair,
A touch as rough and ragged as the truth,
But wait until your wounds are smoothed,
Then you'll realize you've secured your youth.

Life cuts the soul with woven, threaded facts,
It heals the broken heart with quiet paths,
For pressure hardens even the softest shells,
And stings the beloved and truthful hearts.

You may not have seen how it gleams,
But even in the harshest hands, it is extreme—
Through jagged, ruined, and hardened skin,
It will mend the surface with a tightened grin.
