POEM #20: LEAVES

The trees stand tall, catching the wind—
In green and gold, the leaves twirl around,
As the trees let go, their branches skinned,
Another life is lost on the barren ground.

They pile in drifting mounds, soft and free—
A bed of Earth, in hues of amber red,
The doves sing, harmonizing in perfect glee,
Cradled as they fade, enough has been said.

Oh, warm leaves, you are life's sweet ode–
You blanket the fields in silent colors,
Start embarking on your path, rich and bold,
As the creatures continue to dance in collars.
