I headed up to my bedroom after Zay let my drain all my tears. We didn't speak at all, but a silent understanding passed through us and we both got that it was time for me to go up and try and apologize for my mistakes.

First off, Riley.

I had only a couple of hours to make things right with her, whereas I had the whole summer to fix things with Farkle and Lucas. I barged into her room as she was angrily throwing her clothes in a heap into her suitcase while sobbing pitifully. I just stood there for a minute, not knowing where to start.

    "You know, I really don't want to leave here angry at you," Riley said, never looking up from her pile of clothes.

    "Riley-" I attempted.

    "No, Maya. You said 2 minutes before bed. Not 4 hours in between the night. And you didn't tell me about Lucas?" Riley said angrily.

    "Riley, I'M SORRY! I'm sorry I didn't tell you about Lucas and me! I didn't want to make you deal with so much.. I wanted to tell you when I was ready! And when he was ready.. But about Farkle, I'm not sure why you're mad.." I apologized sincerely.

    "I forgive you for the Lucas bit.. But about Farkle.. Maya, I just.. I can't on that. I don't believe you. And for something as stupid as that you wouldn't tell me?" Riley said frustratedly.

    I was beginning to lose my patience with Riley. Maybe Farkle and Lucas had a reason to be mad at me, but this argument between Riley and I was completely stupid and blown out of proportion! I would much rather be spending my last day here with my best friend differently.

    "EXACTLY! If it's so stupid, why does it matter than I wanted to protect you?" I asked confusedly.

    "Because maybe I LIKE HIM!" she yelled as she finally turned and faced me.

    Both Riley and I made an O shape with our mouths and stood there looking at each other realizing what just happened. Finally, Riley continued.

    "Because maybe I was jealous that the two of you were out there telling each other your deep and darkest secrets while I lay in my bed last night wide awake the whole time," she said softly, like if she said it too loud, she would break.

    "Riley-" I started, but once again, I was cut off.

    "Whatever, Maya. I forgive you. I can't believe you came in to apologize for something that wasn't your fault while I'm over here blaming you for it. You didn't do anyth-" she started babbling before I stopped her.

    "Riley.. Seriously? I should've told you. We both made this a big deal when it wasn't. I'm sorry. But can we focus on the bigger issue here? You're leaving in a few hours and you just shared a huge secret with me. Dude.. I know this is easier said than done, but you have to tell him.." I said subtly, so as not to tell Farkle's secret.

    "Yeah.. easy for you to say. You're this confident warrior and I'm a shy, little flower. No, thanks!" Riley replied sarcastically.

    "Riley!" I yelled as I shook her shoulders to snap her out of her weird daze. "You're being ridiculous. Why wouldn't he love someone like you? You're the most bubbly, beautiful human being out there. Please.. For me? Tell him the truth about the way you feel before you leave!"

    Inhaling deeply, Riley closed her eyes and thought about it for a minute. Finally, she answered me.

    "Fine," she said with her normal, beautiful smile shining through all the adversities in her way, amazing me once again with who she is.

    I hugged her super tight and she let out a squeal of a mixture of excitement and not being able to breathe from how tight I was holding her.

    "Can we go use these last couple hours together in summer and have the best time ever?" I asked her excitedly.

    "But don't you have to apologize to Farkle and Lucas?" Riley asked.

    "They can wait.. I've got all summer with them. I've only got a couple hours with my best friend to go do everything," I said with the biggest smile I could've managed.
