~Jungkook's Point of View~

The girls had gone out with one of our stylists to get dresses and masks, whilst another stylist had chosen suits for us, paired with simple black and silver masks - it was a masquerade ball after all. I couldn't wait to see Sam in a dress, looking beautiful...
I shook my head, and looked back to the window where I was sat. I wonder how tonight is going to be. I want to dance with her; we'll be wearing masks so maybe I can hold her without her knowing its me...

We were driving in the car, to the venue. I was unusually quiet, usually I talk quite a lot but I just wanted to stay silent for a while. The members tried speaking to me, but I brushed them off. Not to be rude, but I just wanted to daydream. Suddenly my phone beeped in my pocket, and removing it I checked the message:

To: Our Group Chat!:)
From: Sam

Hey.. I'm very sorry guys, but I won't be coming this evening... I feel ill and don't think I'll enjoy it if I'm not feeling well. Beth, Mina and Lu are still going, and I hope you all have a great time! See you soon x

My heart sank. She's not going..?
"Aw, really..?" Taehyung frowned as he read the same message, and Suga shook his head at his phone, saying,"I should go back for her.."
"No!" I blurted out before thinking. The others looked at me funny.
"I mean.. I'll go. You enjoy the ball, I'm not that bothered," I tried to cover up. Before Suga could reply, another message came up on the group chat:

To: Our Group Chat!:)
From: Sam

And NO, none of you are coming back to stay with me, no discussion... I'll just be angry at you if you do. Now go enjoy!:) x

Suga and I looked at each other, and Rapmon laughed.
"Guess that's settled it, it's like she knew," He smirked. I looked away from Yoongi's gaze and out of the window instead. I wanted to be with her... I guess I'll just have to survive the evening and go back to her later...

~time skip - Jungkook's Point of View~

We'd just finished dinner, and the huge hall was filled with women in beautiful gowns and complimentary masks, and men in suits and tuxedos, also wearing masks. The music was soft and melodious, and couples had taken up the floor, the dance partners changing swiftly every few minutes. I sighed, and checked my watch - 10:05pm. Still a while to go...
My next partner was almost my height but not quite, with a pale pink straight gown and a full pink mask to match. She placed one hand on my shoulder and the other I held out, and placed my hand on her waist unwillingly. How many more of these dances...
"It wasn't her fault."
That snapped me out of my trance.
"What?"
The girl repeated herself. "It wasn't her... It was me. I planned it. She doesn't hate you, she loves you. It's not fair for anyone to stand in the way anymore."
She looked down, and I stared at her, dumbfounded.
"What...what do you mean?" I asked. She was familiar, but I couldn't hear her voice properly as the mask muffled it, as well as the music, so I couldn't distinguish it.
"Just know that... I was selfish. She is the one for you; don't lose her."
With that, the girl whirled away to the next man, and another lady whirled into my arms.
This time she was wearing a pale blue gown, but it wasn't a common blue, more of a shimmering greyish sliver blue. White gems glittered her waist in a simple design, with the dress hugging her slim body down until the waist, after which the fabric was layered to become slightly puffy, giving it some volume. Her face was covered with a silk black and silver jewelled mask, and her black hair was half up half down, with curls tumbling down her back. Beautiful.
"Who are you?" I whispered, but she didn't answer. There was something about her; I didn't know what. Like the girl before, she seemed familiar, but this time was different.
"Your name?" I asked politely, but again she avoided my question.
"What's in a name?" She said softly, barely audible. "All you need to know is, it was a misunderstanding. Find out the truth... People tell lies when they're upset."
What is it with people telling me weird things today?!
"What are you trying to say?" I asked, clearly confused. I swear she was smiling beneath her mask. She just shook her head, and the music changed, signalling our time was up. She brushed her fingers across my cheek as she spun gracefully; the layers of her silk dress fanning out, as the next partner placed a hand on her waist. I touched where she had touched my face, and suddenly it reminded me of the time Sam did the same thing in the kitchen.

I kept following the moves of the dancers around me, but my concentration was not on my movements, but on her. I didn't even get her name...
I needed to know her. There was something drawing me to her. Both the girls' words echoed in my mind:
I was selfish. She is the one for you; don't lose her...
People tell lies when they're upset...

It made me think the incident in the studio; the thing that has kept Sam and I apart for the past couple of weeks. Could it be..?
I felt content for some reason. I felt like Sam was here with me, not at home. Of course that wasn't the case, but it felt as if she was with me.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw her again. She was leaving. She delicately held her gown, grasping the fabric and stepping lightly in her heels. She spared a glance at me, before turning and slipping out of the door. I knew what I had to do.

"I'm sorry, excuse me," I hurried apologised, dropping the hands of my partner and weaved between the people surrounding me. I had to get outside before she leaves...

I was panting from running. She had gotten far, but I had caught up with her. She was only a couple of metres in front of me, and was stood still, obviously realising I was behind.
"Who are you?" I whispered.
She didn't say anything. Instead, she simply lifted her hand and uncovered her mask, and let it fall to the floor. She then slowly turned to face me.
I gasped softly, and stepped forward.

"You..."
