i breathe too fast
her heart stops
for a moment
we're standing still
in a void where time ceases
our bodies are close
and i see the creases
of her eyes, laugh lines
reminiscent of a time that used to be
it's a dizziness i can't explain
that takes hold of us
her words come out fast
i watched them pass
and suddenly she's gone
time's taken her away
and tears at me in seconds
in minutes or hours
days or weeks
i stopped keeping up
i lost the marathon to her again
she's only a little bit away
i can see her pale skin
and eyes, once blue
now blistering gray
i knew that time
has wrought us out
and chased away our lives
and i repeat the words
that she gave me
sitting on a bare plate
they look sweet
but taste of cyanide
well, i suppose
that's how i died
with time standing over me
and whispering her last
"goodbye"
