Chapter 8

"Why is Lucas after you?" I asked Noah still shocked. "The second he sees me he's going to want to attack me." The one thing I hate about Noah, is that he never tells you what is actually going on. "Okay, again I ask why is he after you?" He sighed, "I don't really know a better way to say it, so I'm just going to straight up tell you. He loves you and hates that you are dating me. He's always loved you. This is part of your backstory. You two were really close when you were fourteen. Then you left to live with your dad for a few years. When you came back you didn't remember him. He lost his family and was forced to live in the woods. He remembers you and still loves you." All I could say was, "Wow!" " He is a very protective guy. When he wants something, he'll get it. That's why he's after me." I nodded. "So we'll be careful when we go." He smiled. "I'm going to head home, see you tomorrow." I hugged him. "See you then."

Noah's POV: I let go of Cat and got into my car. Not going to lie, I'm nervous for tomorrow. I know Lucas, he is a strong guy filled with revenge.  Cat sounds like she doesn't want anything to do with him, so that's good. I don't want to alarm Cat, but I can't see how this is going to play out anymore. Something happened and I don't what it is.

Cat's POV: Oddly, I did feel some kind of connection to Lucas when he caught me. Maybe it's because I was wanting Noah to catch me. He always does. I shook off that feeling and headed to the barn. I wanted to take Scarlet for a ride on the trail. Katie wasn't there when I arrived. I saw a note on Scarlet's stall that read: Hey Cat, I had to run home and take care of some family issues. Don't worry, I'll be back before the horses need to eat. See you soon, Katie. I put down the note and went to tack up Scarlet. She looked happy to see me. I finished tacking her up and started for the trail. I returned right around dinner time. When I got to the barn Katie was feeding all the horses. She asked how my ride was and took Scarlet from me. I took off my helmet and placed it next to Scarlet's saddle. I gave Scarlet a treat, said goodbye to Katie, and started for the house. When I got inside Julie made me dinner and I went up to my room. I was bored, so I went to watch a movie in the movie room. I was tired and ended up falling asleep in my chair.

Noah's POV: I left for Cat's house the next morning. When I got there Julie answered the door. She said Cat was in the movie room. I got to the movie room and found Cat sleeping in one of the chairs.When I nudged her awake, she yawned. We had breakfast together and then left to meet Lucas. Cat suggested we take the golf cart, and before I could say anything she ran to get it.
