We woke up about two hours later. I was refreshed and ready to take on any challenge. Noah and Lucas had the same look I did. We were going to save the world, no matter what the cost. I left the chamber for a minute to check on the vortex. It was getting larger and the doors wouldn't hold for long. I ran back into the room searching for anything that could help us. Then I saw it. A light behind the bookshelf. I called the boys over and had them help me push it. We got it open and started searching. I found a box in the back of the room that had another crystal in it. It was identical to the one we thought we destroyed. "This must be the real one!" Lucas said holding it. He place it on the ground,"Come on we have to destroy this!" We circled around it, we repeated the same "spell" but this time I was too tired to finish. I fell to the ground, my head spinning. Noah helped me back up and we tried again. It was draining, I could feel all my energy leave my body. I knew the boys felt the same but were too stubborn to admit it. We used the final bit of energy we had left and the crystal exploded. I collapsed from exhaustion. A while later, Noah shook me awake. We got some water and rested for a minute. We did it! We had saved the world! Or at least I thought we did?!?
The entire building shook! Next thing I know, I'm surrounded by the vortex. The colors swirling through my head. I looked to my right and saw Noah. I reached for his hand but couldn't grab it. Lucas was to my left. I had to choose. Lucas or Noah. I could only save one. Lucas gave me a look. He knew who I was going to pick. He wasn't going to make it harder than it was. He gave me one last smile and let go of the ledge he was holding unto. Just like that he was gone forever. I grabbed Noah and dug my face into his chest as tears streamed down my face. The vortex closed and everything was calm. Lucas had just saved the world. We went outside to get some fresh air. The sun was setting as we walked. "Well, we did it!" Noah said. "You know I would always choose you," I said turning to him. "I know," he responded smiling. He kissed me and that was it. I hugged him as we watched the sunset.
