Gray's P.O.V
We walked up the stairs to the room Jace told us we were staying in.
I opened the door. In the center of the room was a king sized bed with blue bedsheets and curtains, along with a desk, chair, and a wardrobe. There was a door leading to the bathroom on one side and a large portrait of Jace on the other.
The only thing was... there was only one bed!
I blushed like crazy. I turned to Tristitia and saw that she was blushing, too.
Jace: Muhahaha! I wonder what will happen.
Author: Hopefully something interesting.
"Umn...Gray?"
"Y- yah?"
"What are we gonna do?" She was talking about the bed.
"Oh...um... I don't know."
The temperature in my cheeks started to rise.
"Gray, if you want the bed you can have it."
"No, it's okay. You should have it."
"As I told before, I barely get any sleep."
I didn't want to babble with her, so I made a compromise.
"Fine. We share it." As the words leave my lips, I immediately regret my decision. God, my cheeks are gonna burn off.
"Fine," she concluded, flushing redder. We unloaded the luggage and walked downstairs.
Time skip
After dinner and showering, we both crawled into bed. Tris lay on the right, me on the left. We both just lay there not being able to fall asleep because of the awkwardness.
Then, Tris began to sing.
"He's, he's the spark that feels so right. Brought me higher than the sky. Spread my wings so I could fly-y-y-y.
And together we're immortal. We're immortal every second of our li-i-ves. Love you to dea-ea-eath. And we'll always live together, in the world of fairy tales if that's alright. Love you to dea-ea-eath, and infinity. "
Then she stopped and her eye lids started to get heavy. Her voice was beautiful, like a siren, luring me in.
"What song is that? Did you make it?"
"Yeah. I call it Love you to death. ( I actually did make this song, Love You To Death for the book, with the help of my best friend.)
"Well, you'll have to sing it again for me later."
"I'd like that." She smiled before drifting off to sleep.Tristitia's P.O.V
Flashback
I woke up in a dark room.Where was I? I had no clue. Then I remembered what had happened the night before.
Lysa and Jacques had captured me and Althia. A growing suspicion started to rise and I know where we were.
"Hello Tristitia. What a pleasant surprise." A dark voice boomed. Daggers, whips and other torture devices lined the walls and in the far corner, I could see Althia in chains. Her arms led to chains that wrapped around her wrists that were attached to the ceiling. Another was connected from her ankles to the floor.
I tried to go and comfort her, but it looked like I was in the same bonds as Althia.
"Tell me, Tristitia. Should I torture your poor little sister? Or will you come willingly?" Otis said, fake sarcasm and pity in his voice.
I didn't answer.
"Have it your way," Otis snarled and picked up a nearby whip. He raised the whip and it crashed onto Althia's back. She screamed in agony.
"Althia..." I said, tears starting to swell in my eyes. He whipped her again. Screaming filled the dark chamber.
"NO! DON'T HURT HER! PLEASE!" I yelled, continuing to struggle and the tears locked in my eyes fell.
"Will you come?!" He yelled again. I had no other choice.
"Y- yes! Just don't hurt her!" He put down the whip. Then, he picked up another one. It was different than the first one, flame red and had multiple metal strings attached to it. He walked over to me and ripped off the bottom of my shirt.
"I'll do what I want, girl!" He raised the whip to the left side of my torso. The strands of the whip blazed with flame and as it crashed down onto my stomach, it burned intensely. I cried out in agony. He laughed with pleasure as I screamed, and continued. How much pain can an eight year old girl endure?
My screams filled the chamber and continued throughout the night. Little did I know that it would be like this everyday for the next five years.
Flashback overGray's P.O.V
I felt the bed shake a little. I woke up and faced Tris. She was tossing in bed, sweat dripping off her forehead. She shivered.
"Althia..." she started, tears leaking from her eyes. I've felt that way too. Crying out for someone that wasn't there... Ur.
"No. Don't hurt her. Please... " she continued, rolling into a ball. She trembled like crazy, like she knew someone was after her and she couldn't run away fast enough.
"Yes." She stiffened, tears still streaming out her closed eyes. Then, a scream pierced the night. Tris had screamed, clutching the place where she had her white guild mark.
She was having a flashback. At first, it seemed like she was just having a nightmare... but now... I'm certain of it. She is remembering a time when she experienced pain... intense pain.
Without thinking, I wrapped my arms around her waist, which fit perfectly in my arms. I pulled her close to my bare chest and rested my forehead in her neck. The scent of roses filled my nostrils.
Aww. I could stay like this forever.
But Tris was still freaking out. I heard her mumble something that strangely sounded like fire and scream again, struggling in my embrace. But my muscular arms secured her in place.
"Shh. They won't get you. I promise they won't. I'll always be here to protect you."
At my last words, her body temperature seemed to cool down, and the trembling stopped. Her heart beat and breathing resumed at a steady rate. Her eyelids fluttered, and she opened her eyes. A constellation of tears blanketed her lashes.
"Tris, are you okay? You scared me half to death!"
"No. I'm not." She said truthfully, burying her head under my chin and leaning her forehead up against my chest. My skin became damp with tears.
"Can you tell me what happened? "
She flinched.
"On second thought, you don't have to. "
"No. It's okay."
She began to tell me what happened in her flashback. As she did, my eyes started to fill with tears.
How could he do that to an eight year old girl?!
"It was like that everyday for the next five years. Otis either brandished or whipped me, or drained me of my magic energy. Sometimes, he would torture Althia in order to get it through to me that he could do anything he wanted to. The worst part is that... all of the five years there... I never was loved. Not even by my own sister. I knew she feared me too much to love me. After all, life and death are opposites. But I never stopped loving her. Sometimes... it was so bad... all the pain I was put through... that... several times... had thought of... suicide."
Suicide. Now I find myself hating him even more. If I even see a man named Otis, he's dead.
"But I kept living. I put my heart behind a set of cold, metal bars. After five years of being there, we finally got to escape. I escaped broken, like a doll whose lost its owner and doesn't know what to do, how to feel. Then, something I only feared happened. After only a week of being free, Althia left. She never said goodbye, and didn't take anything. Nyx... that was her's. The night she left, I didn't even cry as I knew it would eventually happen. I took up Nyx as a memory of her and vowed to find her. I searched for two years, traveled to the Underworld for another two, then searched one last time. I desperately needed to find her, to make sure everything was fine, that she wasn't dead. But then..."
"Then what?"
"Something unexpected happened. I found someone else"
"Who? "
"I found you."
