"How have you been?" You ask.
I smile, and lie through my teeth.
"You're doing alright without him?"
"Of course — I've never been better!," another lie.
"Did you hear about his new girlfriend?"Yes.
Her name is Elizabeth.
She's a year younger; she goes to our rival school.
They started talking on June 12, the day before my birthday.
They started dating on July 17.She goes to all of his games,
And she likes to surprise him at practice.
He surprises her with flowers at school,
and drives her to dance practice every week.
They think they love each other.But I respond:
"No, I didn't know he was seeing someone — that's so great!"
"Oh, they're great together; she's really good for him."
And you continue to talk
And my heart slowly falls to pieces.********
