Chapter 16: Music To My Ears

"What the... Nolen?!" Jacob gasped shocked.

He looked at me shocked and I had the same expression.

"James! Get up!" I yelled to him. When there was no response I threw a stick right by him, it didn't hit him but it wasn't meant to. It landed right by him.

"Wha?!" He shot up, sitting now.

"Get Ryan and Charlie!!!" Jacob yelled too him.

Nolen laid on the leaf covered ground. He was breathing but was out pretty good. Nolen was Ryan's older brother. Ryan ran over.

"Is it really Nolen?!" Ryan asked running and sitting by me.

"Yeah" I said looking at the out cold boy.

"I cant believe it!" He said extremely happy.

I smiled and put a hand on his shoulder.

"Charlie! What's wrong with him?" I asked as he kneeled by him.

"Alex if I may remind you... I'm not a doctor... My Dad was" He said checking him over.

After a moment he found it, on the back on his head. He had hit his head, hard. It was bleeding and wasn't looking good.

"Probably a concussion" Charlie said looking at his head.

"Will he be okay?" I asked.

"Hopefully" Charlie said. "Okay guys help me carry him over to the camp, Carefully" He continued standing up.

James and Jacob both stood up with Charlie. They carefully carried him over. Ryan and I fallow closely behind.

"Jacob, James, Alex keep watch for moaners. I don't want to have to deal with them when trying to help him... And with all that yelling and noise we made their bound to come... Ryan get my first aid pack" Charlie instructed.

We nodded in agreement. Ryan got the supplies and went over too Charlie too help. James, Jacob and I all grabbed our weapons. We all kept watch weapons in hand. And sure enough moaners started coming out of the depths of the woods thanks too all the noise we made. I got one with the swing of my sword. James took one with his large knife. Jacob took two out with his crowbar.

Then I saw one who came from the other direction heading toward Charlie and Ryan. I ran over. knowing I couldn't get it with the sword, I pulled it by the back of the shirt pulling it away from them.

"Alex!" Jacob yelled running to help.

I pulled it away from Charlie, Ryan and Nolen. It started at me, it grabbed my arm. I tried to shake its grip so I could kill it. I kicked it in the upper stomach, it stumbled backward and took its head clear off with my sword. I breathed hard and put my sword in its holder on my back. Jacob ran over to me. 

"You okay... That was crazy!" He told me. "Why didn't you just kill it in the first place?!" He asked me.

"If I had I would have risked taking Ryan's head off too!... Or maybe pushing the end of it into Charlie's back!... I couldn't risk it!... I know it was crazy!.. But I'm fine and we are all alive" I yelled and then sighed.

James quickly ran over. "You alright?" He asked.

"Peachy" I said sarcastically, walking away back to where I was keeping watch.

"Snarky" Jacob said gesturing too me as I walked away.

James eyed him "Stressed" He simply said.

"what?" Jacob asked.

"She almost got bitten she's stressed not ''Snarky'' James said walking away.
