Chapter 21: What Now?

After getting our  weapons ready again, we walked out the hall. We went to our right and walked over to a "You Are Here" sign. We looked at the routes and decided to go towards the café. We passed the glass cafeteria doors and noticed that there were still a bunch of moaners inside. We quietly jogged by and continued out way down the hall. We jogged down the hall when a moaner came towards us. Nolen took it out with his knife.

We ran further down the hall when we turned the corner to see a group of them. We went toward them, weapons ready to take them out. There must have been five or six. We started taking them out, I turned around to get another when one from behind me grabbed my shoulder. I took the one out and tried to shake the grip of the one grabbing my shoulder when a hammer went into the side of its head. I turned shocked.

"Ryan?!" I exclaimed. I hugged him tightly.

"Alex!" He smiled hugging me back.

"What am I?" Jacob asked sarcastically, Charlie standing next to him.

I hugged them both and James and Nolen did the same.

"What the heck happened to you guys?!" Jacob asked.

We told him the whole story about what happened. When in the middle of talking we heard raspy groaning coming from around the corner.

"Guys... How close to the cafeteria are we" James asked turning to me.

My eyes got wide as I saw twenty moaners come limping down the hallway... And then more... and more.

"GUYS COMON!" Nolen yelled running down the hallway. We fallowed quickly behind him. We ran down the hallway this time staying together... Learned that one the hard way...

We opened a door and continued running down the hallway. Florescent lights flickered as we ran. Our sneakers and boots all squeaked on the tile floors as we turned corners.

"Guys over here!" Ryan called opening a door for us. We filed in and ran down another hallway.

"Hurry!" I yelled seeing the moaners right behind us. Reaching, groaning and quickly limping behind us. We continued down the hall, breathing hard now. 

As we turned a corner I slipped hitting the ground  hard.

"Alex!" James yelled.

I quickly got up and continued running "I'm fine just go!" I yelled. 

We ran down the hall and opened some doors, we closed them and Charlie grabbed a metal bar that laid on the ground, he put it through the metal handles. We went too run but noticed there was n place to go. We looked around to see where to go, what to do... but there was nothing we could do.

We stood in a huddled line and exchanged worried looks, was this really the end? Was this how we would go? Was this really my last day? I looked at James with nervous, fear filled eyes. He looked back with the same look. All I could think was: Is this it?!

I looked around the room and saw James, Charlie, Nolen and Jacob. But then I realized

"Where's Ryan?!"
