The next morning I woke, warm, just as I fell asleep. It was quiet, other then the fire crackling. It was nice, I almost forgot about what happened until I realized James was here, sleeping too. I had hoped it was all just a dream but with James, the backpacks, swords and my knife holster on the table I knew it wasn't a dream... I didn't know what time it was but you know that feeling you get when you slept in super late, that's how I felt. But who could blame us, we stayed up until 4am fighting, driving and crying.

I decided to wake James, mostly because I didn't like being alone with my thoughts and also because it was probably pretty late.

I got up and walked over to him,  "James" I said in a low almost whispered voice.

He didn't budge.

"James" I said in my normal voice to him, putting a hand on his shoulder shaking him slightly.

He groaned softly.

"Comon' James wake up" I said in my normal tone again.

He slowly woke, I stood up and tended to the fire so it wouldn't go out... After I walked back to the couch to a now sitting up James. He was still groggy but somehow still managed to smirk. I chuckled very softly. "What"? He asked. "Nothing" I said with a smile.

We talked for a while, trying to keep our minds off resent events. But this world doesn't like us to try to forget, I personally think forgetting about it makes it mad. So ir decided she wouldn't make it easy for us. Suddenly we herd a crash, we both jumped up getting our weapons. I took my sword out of the holder and James got his sword staff. We were scared again, I hated it. We had just felt safe... But I guess the world doesn't want us to feel safe anymore either.

We slowly walked toward the door, we didn't want to kill those 'things' but... We didn't want to see what would happen if it bit us either. James opened the door and suddenly one of those 'things' started walking towards me. My instant reaction was swing the blade when it started to grab at me. But like I said we didn't know what they were yet, we didn't want to kill them. So instead of swinging my sword, I kicked it backwards to give myself a moment to think.

It started towards James and I wasn't about to let that happen. With a deep breath I put my blade right through its chest, where its heart was... But it was still alive, it started grabbing at me. I didn't understand, how was it still alive. It was  inching closer to me, I took the knife out of my belt, and pushed it into the top of its head. It fell to the ground. I breathed heavily. I took my sword out of its chest with a pull, and the same with my knife. I stood up and looked at James, fear slowly started to die but I was still scared.

We knew we couldn't stay after all the noise, so we got out stuff and got in the car. We would drive to my grandparents our in the woods, its far away from most civilization. I started it car and like usual, down the driveway with a large jolt. We drove but we knew the ride would take about a hour so talking was plentiful on this trip. I was glad of this, it made me feel better. To get there we would have to go through a small town. Once we arrived our talking became silent, they were everywhere. I cringed at the sight. I sped up through the town losing them quickly.

"Now we know... you need to get them in the head... They like noise... and we don't know what happens if you get bitten by one of those things but, its there only priority so, it cant be good" James explained thinking out loud.

"Yeah..." I replied so he knew I was listening.

We continued driving for another half hour, which means by car it would take about fifteen more minutes. But instead the worst happened. The car slowed down, inching us to a stop. I looked at the gages confused and quickly realized out problem. I hit the dashboard in frustration.

"What?!" he said responding to my anger.

"We're out of gas" I sighed.

I put a hand on my face rubbing my eyes. "We'll have to walk... from where we are it will take a half hour." I explained , clearly frustrated.

"Then lets go" he said getting the supplies from the back. I got my stuff and he got his. We got out of the car, in the middle of nowhere and started walking.

"So... What will we call them... 'things' doesn't make much sense" James looked at me, I shrugged at him. "How about.... Moaners?'' He asked with a smirk.

I chuckled softly. "Okay Moaners it is" I smiled, rolling my eyes.

After about twenty minutes I realized our day would just get worse. We both saw it, and without hesitation we went into the woods going around the large group of the 'Moaners'. We veered far into the woods. We knew it would add time but better that then them. We walk silently until we saw a bunch more. We hid behind a tree, we knew we had to get pasted them. Luckily I had a plan.  I took a can of grape soda out of my bag, I shook it up until I could hear the fizz. I threw it as hard as I could straight at a huge rock. It exploded grape soda going everywhere. We ran as fast as we could. As we ran James was in front of me, I looked back to see if the Moaners were fallowing, they weren't. When I looked forward, James wasn't there, I look all around me, but he was nowhere. I didn't understand, where was he. I wanted to stop and look for him but before I knew it, my soda distraction was up, the moaners started limping there way to me... I knew I could yell for him, because it would attract more. I couldn't do anything, but run. I hated this, I wanted to find him... But I couldn't without getting myself killed. So I continued running, picking up speed.
