The Waterfall

"Do you all hear that?" Katie yelled as she ran after the rushing water sounds.

"What is she running after?" Dan asked as he scratched his chin.

"I don't know she's crazy." I laughed as Vega almost toppled over a branch and another almost hit her in the face.

"I hate nature." she growled at us.

"But you're having fun aren't you?"

"Yeah Dan I am. You know nothing is better than stepping in pig shit, getting bite by unknown itchy bugs, I have the urge to pee but I'm in a group of guys that won't wait up for me and where am I honestly going to go? I want toilet paper and a toilet, I'm thirsty, I lost my brother not even 18 hours ago, I'm tired, my feet hurt, my heart hurts, and so does my head, I'm hot and sweaty, and on top of all that I just want to go home... So yes thank you for asking I'm having a ball."

"Sorry." he told her quietly and he looked down at the ground.

"Come on the island isn't all that bad." I told them. "It could be worst think of it this way we are all here as a group of people and we aren't sitting here alone, we have fresh water, we can take a bath, one of us is honestly smart enough to make a fire and sadly it's the girl that's chasing a butterfly around, we have a guitar for some sort of entertainment, we have food, and there is at least somewhere we can pee."

"Yeah but that's easy for you." Vega snapped. "You try squatting down like a fucking pigeon every time you have to pee and I can't just shake it off either, oh also you don't have to sit in your own blood every single day because well look at that you don't get your period. You know what I could really go for some aspirin right about now.."

"Alright." I told her quickly careful not to budge the subject to much. "But we still have the other things just be thankful for those."

"Yes I'll be thankful for being stuck on an island filled with people I can barely tolerate."

"Whoa hold on." Dan spoke up and we looked at him.

"Oh I like you Dan you're probably the only one though."

"Ok um wow hello hurtful." I told her.

"And you too Hunter.. You two are probably the only ones I actually like."

"How about her?" I asked as I pointed to Katie who stopped and smelt a flower.

"She hangs out with Shay now she hasn't even made an effort to talk to me. I thought at least the girls would have bonded since we're the only ones but we haven't the only people I have actually bounded with are you two.. and my brother." she said my brother in a silent tone it almost wasn't audible and I wrapped my arms around her and I kissed her cheek.

"I dig the three musketeers."

"See you just make things weird don't give us lame nicknames."

"Sorry."

She slid out from under my arm and she walked on the other side of Dan. "GUYS OH MY GOSH IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL! YOU ALL OF HAVE TO COME CHECK THIS OUT!!" Katie yelled and we quicken our pace.

In front of us stood a 50 foot waterfall it was stunning the way the rushing water moved and the way the water smelt made me realize this must be where all the fresh water comes from. "Wow!" Vega yelled over the rushing water. "Its so beautiful."

She fell silent and we stared up at it speechlessly "Well that was nice let's go." Katie said breaking up the peacefulness.

"No." Vega told her. "I like it here it's so calm... Hey Dan look there's somewhere we haven't explored yet we can go behind the waterfall. Come check it out with me." she grabbed his hand giggling and dragged him along before he could even reply to her.
