Marnie's P.O.V

"Marnie! It's time to get up! It's your first day of school!" my mother, Lydia yelled from outside my door. I just grumbled into my pillow. My mother kept slamming her fist against my door.

"Marnie! Don't make me come in there!" my mother said.

"Alright! I'm up!" I said. The pounding against my door stopped and then I heard my mom move away from the door. I got up and started getting ready.

It was always just my mom and I. My mom divorced my dad when I was very young and then he ran off with a younger woman. Those two are in a much happier marriage than mom and dad ever were in. Mom always said, that she didn't really need a husband. She was happier with it just being us two. I went downstairs into the kitchen where my mom already fixed me a bowl of cereal. I sat down at the table and started eating the cereal.

"Are you ready for your first day of school?" mom asked

"Yes mom. Are you?" I asked. She just smiled at me. My mom was a university professor. She taught theater studies and theater production.

"I care more about if you're ready. Are you walking alone?" mom asked

"No. Lola and I are going to walk together" I said. Mom pursed her lips. I knew she didn't like Lola that much. Lola came from a very rich family. She had a big house, the nicest cars and the best clothes.

"I see. You know I don't like her that much" mom said

"Come on mom. We both know it's her father you don't like that much" I said

"He's always flirting with you and touching you inappropriately! He should know better. You're a child and he's a grown man" mom said

"I'm not a child. I'm seventeen" I said. Mom just gave me a glare. She then looked at the clock.

"You better get going. You don't want to be late for your first day" mom said. I got up and grabbed my bag. I gave mom a kiss on the cheek before heading out the door.

Lola and I met halfway withing walking to school. When we got to the school, we went to the office to get our schedules. We both took a look at them.

Period 1: Environmental Studies ~ Mrs. Hudson

Period 2: English ~ Mr. Benson

Period 3: Maths ~ Mrs. Hunt

Lunch

Period 4: Biology ~ Mr. Easton

Period 5: History ~ Mrs. Adams

Period 6: Music History ~ Mr. McCartney

Lola peeked over at my schedule. I could see her smirking out of the corner of my eye.

"What?" I asked

"You get the new teacher. I heard he's really cute" Lola said. I'm guessing she was talking about Mr. McCartney. Last year the music history teacher was Mrs. Fox but she was super pregnant. I guess she had the baby and went on maternity leave. Mr. McCartney must have been her replacement.

"Lucky you. Have fun with Mr. McCartney today" Lola said. She walked away to head to her first class. I made my way to Environmental Studies. Lola was a bit crazy a times. How cute could a teacher possibly be? All the male teachers in this school are old and cranky.

When lunch came around, Lola and I ate together. She kept nagging on how she was already bored of her teachers.

"Don't even get me started on Mr. Nichols. All throughout chemistry he kept making stupid chemistry jokes" Lola said

"Sucks to be you" I said. Lola stuck her tongue out at me and went back to eating her fries. My eyes averted to a man that walked in the cafeteria. I nudged Lola to get her attention.

"What?" she said with a mouth full of fries.

"Do you know who that is over there?" I said pointing to the man that walked in. Lola looked over at him and smirked.

"That's Mr.McCartney" Lola said

"That's Mr. McCartney!?" I said. Mr. McCartney has to be the most gorgeous man I've ever seen in my life. His eyes caught mine and he smiled and winked at me.

"Oh my God! He winked at you! I think he likes you already" Lola said. I looked back at Lola.

"You're crazy" I said

"No, I'm serious" Lola said

"Why would he like a student? Besides it's illegal for a teacher and student to date" I said

"Whatever but I bet when he sees that you're in his class, he'll want you to stay after class so he can fuck you on his desk" Lola said. I threw a cherry tomato at her and went back to eating my salad.

~

It was finally the last class of the day. Music history with Mr. McCartney. When I got to class, I was the first one there besides Mr. McCartney who was writing his name on the board. I went to go sit in a desk at the front of the class. I wasn't paying to where I was walking as I was staring at Mr. McCartney so I ended up walking right into a desk and dropping my books.

"Shit" I muttered under my breath. I bent over to start picking my stuff up. I was about pick up my last book when someone else beat me to it. I looked up to see Mr. McCartney. I grabbed my book from him.

"Thanks" I said with a smile. He smiled back at me. Other students started to come into the classroom. I sat in the desk I was going to sit in.

"Alright students. Take your seats so we can begin class" Mr. McCartney said. Everyone sat in a desk and Mr. McCartney was ready to start class.

"Welcome to Music History. My name is Mr. McCartney and I'm the replacement for Mrs. Fox as she had her baby and had to go on maternity leave. Since it's the first day of classes and I don't know any of your names, let's start by saying our names and then I'll ask you a question and you answer it" Mr. McCartney. As he spoke, I paid close attention to his accent. He definitely wasn't from around here.

"Let's start over here" Mr. McCartney. He stood in front of my desk. He leaned close to me with a smirk.

"What's your name, love?" Mr. McCartney asked

"Marnie Rowe" I said.

"And Miss Rowe, do you have a boyfriend?" Mr. McCartney asked. I furrowed my eyebrows. Should a teacher even be asking that?

"Uh...no" I said.

"Thank you Miss Rowe. I look forward to getting to know you more" Mr. McCartney said. He went on the next student. Why would he want to know if I have a boyfriend or not?
