Marnie's P.O.V
The next day, I unfortunately had to go home because I had a date tonight. A date I didn't really want to go on. I had to though because that's what Paul and I decided to do. It would help keep our relationship a secret.
"Mom! I'm home!" I said when I entered the house. She came into the living room.
"Hi Marnie. How was your night with Paul?" she asked
"It was just us spending time together and being romantic with each other" I said.
"That's sweet! Paul is a great guy for you, whether he's your teacher or not" mom said
"Thanks mom. I've never told you this before but you're pretty cool" I said
"I'm a cool mom?" she asked
"Yeah, and not just because you support my relationship with Paul but because you do so much for me" I said
"Well, you're a really cool daughter" mom said
"Okay, now it's just getting weird. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to pick an outfit for my date tonight" I said
"Do you really have to go on that date with Andrew?" mom asked. She said it in a way that made her sound like Lola.
"Yes mom. It's going to help my cover with Paul" I said
"Alright. Before you go out with him, I need to meet him" mom said. Oh yeah, mom hasn't actually met Andrew before. She better not embarrass me...scratch that. Make it happen so he'll never want to go out with me again.
~
I looked at the clock on my night side. 4:59. One more minute and Andrew is here. I hope he got the flu or something.
"Marnie! Andrew is here!" mom called out to me. I grabbed my purse and walked down the stairs. Andrew was talking with mom and dad.
"Marnie! Why didn't you tell us how handsome he was?" mom said. I thought she would be faking it for the sake of me being with Paul but no, it was a genuine smile on her face. Crap. She liked Andrew.
"And he's very polite too" dad said. Great, even dad liked him. The first guy he approves of and it's Andrew. I walked over to him.
"I brought you flowers Marnie" Andrew said. He gave me the big bouquet of flowers. It had my three favourites. Roses, Orchids and Lilly's. I didn't even know he knew what flowers I liked. I couldn't help but smile.
"Thanks Andrew. They're beautiful" I said
"That's why I got them. They reminded me of you" Andrew said. I blushed. Mom took the bouquet from me.
"I'll go put these in a vase with some water. You two kids have fun" mom said
"Keep her safe Andrew" dad said
"I will. You have a goodnight Mr. and Mrs. Rowe" Andrew said. He grabbed my hand and we stepped out.
"You don't mind if we walk, do you?" Andrew asked.
"Not at all" I said

We made it to the theatre within half an hour. Since Psycho was playing for the weekend, we decided to watch it. We got our movie tickets and then went to get our snacks.
"I'll get the snacks. Would you like anything?" Andrew asked
"Just popcorn and a Coke" I said. Andrew nodded and went up to the snack counter. I stood and waited until I heard my name being called.
"Hi Marnie" the familiar voice said. I turned around and saw Paul and Jane making their way over to me.
"Hi Mr. McCartney. Hi Jane" I said. All she did was flash me a fake smile. It looked like she didn't want to be here.
"What are you doing here?" Paul asked as he started playing along with our little plan.
"I'm here on a date with Andrew" I said. Just then, Andrew came back with our popcorn and drinks.
"Oh, hi Mr.McCartney" Andrew said.
"Hi Andrew. What movie are you two seeing?" Paul asked
"Psycho" Andrew said
"So are we. How about we all sit together?" Paul suggested
"Paul, they're on a date. Let's not ruin it for them" Jane said
"We wouldn't be bothered if you joined us" Andrew said.
"Great" Jane muttered, rolling her eyes. All I did was glare at her. I know about you and my father, Jane.
"Let's head in, shall we?" I said. As a group, we headed into the movie.
~
I was sat in between Andrew and Paul while Jane was seated on the opposite side of Paul. The lights dimmed and the movie started.
Halfway through the movie, I could feel my left hand being held. Paul was holding my hand. I entwined my fingers with Paul's. I saw him smile out of the corner of my eye. I then looked at Andrew and noticed his hand reaching for mine. I pulled my hand away so he couldn't grab onto it. My hands were meant for Paul to hold, not Andrew.
~
After the movie, Andrew walked me back home. It was quiet and awkward. I was relieved when we reached my house.
"So, this is my stop" I said
"Can I ask you something?" Andrew said
"Sure" I said
"Why didn't you let me hold your hand? You let me during the walk to the theatre but during the movie, you wouldn't let me" Andrew asked
"I...was just nervous, I guess" Marnie said
"So you don't hate me?" Andrew asked. I smiled at him.
"Of coarse not! I've had the hugest crush on you since seventh grade" I said. Andrew smiled.
"It's funny you say that because I've also had a crush on you since then" Andrew said. I felt the butterflies in my stomach. Go away butterflies! You can only flutter when I'm around Paul.
"I should prob-" I was cut off when I felt Andrew's lips against mine. I didn't kiss back but yet I didn't pull away. The kiss lasted for thirty seconds before he pulled away.
"Have a goodnight Marnie" Andrew said. He then went home. I just stood there, my mind still thinking about that kiss. I also had the feeling that someone was watching us the whole time.
