Chapter 13

Marine's P.O.V

"What do you mean my dad's here?" I asked

"He's standing at the door" Paul said

"What do we do? He can't know that I'm here having sex with you" I said. Paul ran a hand through his hair.

"I'll go talk to him and see what he needs. I just need you to stay up here, alright?" Paul said. I nodded. Paul went to go and talk to my dad.

Paul's P.O.V

I opened the door, revealing Marnie's father. He flashed me a smile.

"Hello Paul" Harold said

"Hello Mr. Rowe. You caught me just in time. I was about to have a shower" I said

"Well, that's lucky for me then, and you may call me Harold if you want" he said

"Alright then. How can I help you, Harold?" I asked

"Is Marnie here? I went to go pick her up at the school but she wasn't there. I thought she might be here for her piano lesson" Harold said

"No. She hasn't stopped by yet. She said something about getting something to eat with her friend Lola" I said.

"Is it alright if I come inside for a bit, just until Marnie gets here? I want to make sure she makes it safe and sound" Harold said. I didn't want to be rude and not let him inside but I also didn't want him to know that Marnie was already here, naked and in my bed.

"Uh...yes. Please, come on in" I said. Harold smiled and stepped inside. He took a seat on the couch. My eyes flicked towards the staircase.

"Please excuse me. I have to use the bathroom" I said. Harold nodded and I made my way upstairs. I opened my bedroom door. Marnie was still on the bed with the sheets wrapped around her.

"Is my dad gone?" she asked

"No. He asked if he could come in and I didn't want to be rude so I let him inside. I told him you were with Lola having something to eat. He's not leaving until he sees that you've arrived safe" I explained

"Well, that's not going to happen since I'm already here" Marnie said. I looked at the window and got an idea.

"There's a ladder outside of the window. It's there incase of an emergency. You can climb down it and then walk to the front door. Your dad will never know" I said

"Well, it's a worth a shot" Marnie said

Marnie's P.O.V

Paul went back downstairs with my father. I gathered my clothes, got dressed and climbed out the window. Once I was on the ground, I walked up to the front door and knocked. The door opened revealing Paul.

"There you are Marnie!" Paul said

"Sorry I'm late. Lola invited me to get something to eat" I said.

"That's alright. Your father is here" Paul said. I nodded and stepped inside. My dad turned his head to look at me.

"Hello Marnie" he said

"Hi dad. What are you doing here?" I asked

"I just wanted to make sure you made it safe and sound. I tried picking you up from school but you weren't there. I assumed you'd be here but you weren't" dad said

"Well, I'm here now. Safe and sound like you hoped" I said

"I think I'll be heading off now" dad said.

"Oh, dad. Lola wants me to spend the night tonight, can I?" I asked. I was actually asking so I could stay at Paul's for the night.

"I don't see why not. I'll let your mother know" dad said

"Alright. I love you dad" I said

"I love you too Marnie. See you later Paul" dad said

"You too Harold" Paul said. With that, my dad left, leaving Paul and I alone. Paul looked at me with a smirk on his face.

"What?" I asked

"You're a clever girl, telling your dad that Lola invited you to stay the night" Paul said

"Well, it was either that or stay here without telling him and then having there be a bunch of missing posters tomorrow" I said. Paul smiled and then pulled me into a hug.

"I love you" Paul said

"I love you too" I said. He placed his lips on mine. After a minute, he pulled away from me.

"I should probably go pack a bag for the night" I said

"Alright, love. I'll miss you" Paul said

"I'll only be five minutes" I said

"I know but still, I'll miss you" Paul said

"I'll be fast. I promise" I said. I gave Paul a quick kiss before I rushed out the door to go home and pack my bag for the night.

When I got inside, I rushed past my mom who was sitting at the table, drinking a cup of tea.

"Where are you going in such a hurry?" mom asked

"I'm going to pack a bag. I'm staying at Lola's for the night" I said

"I see" she said in a questioning tone. I sighed, put my hand on my hips and walked up to her.

"What is it mom?" I asked

"What do you mean, Marnie?" mom asked

"That tone when you said 'I see'. It sounded like you don't believe me" I said. Mom put her cup of tea down and motioned the chair next to her.

"Have a seat please" mom said. I did what she asked.

"You know I love you and that you can tell me anything, right?" mom asked. I raised an eyebrow.

"Yes?" I said

"You also know not to keep any secrets from me right?" mom said

"Where are you going with this?" I asked

"Why did I see you climb out of Paul's window?" mom asked. Oh, crap. She knows. I guess it's time to improvise.

"I don't know what you're talking about" I said

"You climbed out the window of his house just after your dad went inside" mom said

"Mom, you must be smoking pot again because I never climbed out of his window" I said

"Excuse me?" mom said. I just shrugged and got up from my seat.

"I have to go and pack" I said, running up to my room. She never called me back down so I guess I got off this time. It's only going to be a matter of time before she finds out. I really hope she doesn't because then both Paul and I are screwed.
