Marnie's P.O.V
Paul and I made it to his home. When we got inside, I noticed the piano in the living room.
"Do you want some tea, love?" Paul asked. Did he just call me love?
"Yes please" I said. Paul smiled at me and went into the kitchen. I went into the living room and took a seat at the piano.
"Where's Jane?" I asked
"She's visiting family for a couple of weeks" Paul responded. So that meant we were alone. It was silent until Paul came back with the tea.
"Here you go" he said. When he gave me the tea, our fingers brushed against each other and I could almost feel sparks.
"Thanks" I said. I took a sip of the tea and put the cup down.
"Are you ready for your lesson?" Paul asked as he sat beside me.
"Yes Mr. McCartney" I said
~
He taught me a few songs. I had gotten the first two down perfectly but I was struggling with the third one.
"Do you need some help?" Paul asked. I nodded. Paul inched closer to me so that our bodies were touching. He placed his hands over mine and started to guide them.
"You play it just like this" Paul said in a whisper. I could feel my heart beating faster. I don't know why, but I loved him being this close to me. Maybe I'm in love with him.
"You're doing wonderful, love" Paul whispered in my ear. I could feel his breath against my neck. I stopped playing but he kept his hands on top of mine. I love this so much.
Snap out of it Marnie!
Shut up thoughts!
"Paul..." I turned my head to face him. I stared deep into his beautiful eyes. He cupped his hand with my cheek and he started leaning in. Oh my God, he's going to kiss me? What do I do?
Pull away! He's your teacher! It's illegal! That's what the good conscience was telling me.
Or you can let him kiss you. I mean look at him. Who wouldn't want those luscious lips touching your own? Feel his hands running all over your body as he bends you over on his desk- The bad conscience didn't even get to finish as there was a knock on the door.
"Marnie! It's time to come home!" I heard my mother say from outside. Paul's lips were almost touching mine when he pulled away to go answer the door.
"Hi Lydia" Paul said
"Hi Paul. How was Marnie's first day of lessons?" mom asked
"She's a natural" Paul said. I grabbed my bags and walked over to the pair.
"Thanks for today Paul" I said. Paul smiled and placed his hand on my shoulder.
"It was my pleasure" Paul said with a wink.
"Same time tomorrow?" I asked with hopefulness in my voice.
"Of coarse!" Paul said. I smiled before following my mom out the door.
~
When we got back home, I was about to go to my room when mom stopped me.
"Marnie, I need to talk to you about something" Does she know that Paul and I almost kissed? What if she was spying on us through the window or something?
"What is it?" I asked
"Your father is going to be staying with us for a couple of months" mom said
"Why?" I asked
"He and Wendy are getting divorced so he needs a place to stay until he can find somewhere else to live" mom said
"You're seriously not considering this, are you?" I asked
"Marnie, I know he walked out on us and that our divorce didn't end on good terms but you need to reconcile with him. You're still his daughter and he loves you" mom said
"But-" I was cut off
"You don't have to do this for your father but please at least do it for me" mom said. There it was. She knew I couldn't say no to her.
"Fine" I said
"Thank you Marnie. I'll call you back down when dinner is ready" mom said. I went up to my room and fell back on my bed.
I tried distracting myself from thinking of my father and it worked because I found myself thinking of Paul instead. We almost kissed tonight. Maybe Lola was right. Perhaps Mr. McCartney did have feelings for me unless he just goes around kissing all of his students, but that's very unlikely. What was so special about me? Wait, the note! I bet Andrew didn't even write it. It was probably Paul.
Then why would Andrew say that he wept the note. Maybe Andrew returned my feelings for him. I liked Andrew for the longest time and we actually talked today. Consciences, what do you think?
You should go for Andrew. You really like him and he is your age.
No, no. Go for Paul. You're falling hard for him and you know it. Just think about that almost kiss. He wants you and you want him too.
Shut up! She should be listening to me, her good conscience.
But you're so boring!
Consciences, shut up please! I couldn't listen to them anymore. They were giving me a headache. Maybe I should talk to Paul tomorrow. I smiled. I couldn't wait to see him tomorrow. I wonder if he'll try to kiss me again. I really want him to.
It seems like you're listening to me for a change. Marnie Rowe is finally coming over to the dark side. Miss Goodie two shoes conscience wouldn't want to hear about this.
"Marnie, dinners ready!" mom called from down stairs. The thoughts in my head came to a halt when I finally heard mom's voice. I got off my bed and left my room to go to the kitchen.
"Are you alright up there Marnie? You seem awfully quiet" mom said
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just thinking" I said
"About your father?" mom asked
"Yeah. I was thinking about dad" I said. Actually I was thinking about my feelings for Mr. McCartney but mom didn't need to know that. She would flip if she found out about what happened today but what she doesn't know won't hurt her.
