The Real First Date-Ever

Nikolas got a little colicky during the funeral so I quietly step away from from the crowd to bring him to the nursery. Since its a little hot outside I decide to take off his little pants. It turns out this little bugger is trying to fight the sand man. I get him on his way. I feed him enough to get him drowsy. He's a little fighter, but in no time flat he's out cold.

"Is that you're new guy?" Niko asks calmly. I turn around catching a glimpse of Niko in his all black suit, silk black shirt and neon green tie. Now that I think about it-Noah's favorite color was neon green.

"I have two kids and a possessive, repugnant polygamist for a mate. What guy would possibly want my problems? " I reply, folding up Nik's pants and placing them aside. I try passing Niko on the way out, but he stops me and closes the door. He walk towards Nik and plays with his toes.

"You look beautiful today." Niko smirks. Did he just say what I think he just did? Is he trying to be friends-no he's probably messing with me.

"Thank you...I should go back downstairs." I say. Niko goes to follow me. Why this sudden change? What is he trying to do? What is he trying to get out of me. I go to pass him again and he stops me a second time.

"Mel wait, After what happened Friday....My dad wasn't fond of you, but I know that if he was still alive-he'd want me to be here for you. So can we call it a truce? We've tried being together as a couple and we don't last long, but I've been your best friend since I can remember. Can we go back to that? Please?"

"I don't need anymore friends Niko and were not a couple anymore. Were two parents with two kids. We should be a family, but since this might be the closest we become to being a family-fine. Although I don't think I can be your friend-not after all we've been through." I say, looking deep into his ash grey eyes. Its been forever since I've done that. Niko leans in slowly, letting our lips touch gently. The kiss gets rougher and rougher as the seconds go by. I cant help but think that friends don't kiss like this. Niko is playing with my heart.

"I don't think I can either, but it wont hurt to try. It can only bring us closer together." Niko whispers, his lips grazing my ear. I could shiver from the intensity. Before I could say anything, Niko slips right out of the door leaving me with nothing but silence. How could I let him get to me again?! After all the hurt he's caused me! Why am I here? Why should I have anything to do with him?

I head back downstairs to take my seat in between Blade and Stacy. I hope she didn't notice how red I was or how fast my heart was beating. I clench onto the baby monitor as I take my seat. I look straight ahead, not wanting to draw attention to myself.

"Are you okay?" Blade asks. He looks concerned, and upset as he looked up at Niko who gives him a smirk and a nod. Is he really doing this? Does he really think Blade and I are together?

"I have a migraine...I probably need to rest." I sigh, feeling all kinds of sorry for myself. I'm never going to be able to move on. Not as long as Niko is within driving distance of me. Blade looks at Niko again, but this time with ember in his eyes. I'm alright!

"I'll take you home. I'll watch the kids while you rest." Blade offers, as he helps me out of my chair. Maybe its the heat getting to me. Blade chuckles as we pass Niko on the way to the nursery.

"You're baby daddy is one crazy son of a bitch you know that right?" He chuckles. "He thinks that he can intimidate me with that scared little wolf he has. All you have to do is say the word and I'll take you and the kids away from here. You wont ever have to see his face again." As good as that sounds, I wont allow myself to become dependent on a man. I should talk to Lawrence about getting my job back. I might have to work two jobs so that I wont be living from pay check to pay check. It'll be worth it.
