Chapter Four
Sydney's POV
"When you're ready, come and get it! na na na na..."
I immediately grab my phone from my night stand. I smile when I see Finn's name. I accept his call and greet him,"Hello Finnegan." I lightly giggle, knowing that it will irritate him. There was silence from the other end. I furrow my eyebrows,"Finn?"
"Hey Sydney!," he greets me and I grin, hearing his voice. "This is actually Jack, Finn's twin brother. He might have mentioned me to you?"
My smile shrunk because of the fact that it was not Finn. And it was weird. It's his t yeah, he mentioned a lot about you".
I hear a loud sigh,"Umm...Sydney, I have something to tell you".
"What? Like you and Finn are the same?". I immediately regret my words. "Sorry,"I apologize.
A light chuckle was heard from the other end,"No, actually, it's much more...surprising than that".
"What?"
"Promise me you won't scream first"
"I promise"
My heart is literally pounding. Jack's voice was making me nervous.
Jack still remains quiet. All I can hear is uneven breathing.
"Jack? Are you still there?"
"Sydney,"he starts, making me more nervous. "I hate to break this to you. This is one of the hardest things I have ever done in my entire life".
"What is it?"
"Sydney...Finn is dead"

Finn's POV
"So if I'm dead then...am I going to Heaven?,"I ask St. Peter.
I regret my words immediately but I want to know where I am going.
St. Peter gives me a sly smile,"Not exactly".
I furrow my eyebrows,"What do you mean, sir?".
He sighs then smiles at me again,"You have a mission to complete. Back down there," He tells me as he points to the land below".
"Earth?'
He nods his head,"Something to do with that girl named Sydney".
My heart skips a beat when I hear her name. I don't know why but the way my heart reacts towards her is different from the way it react towards other girls that I've fancied.
"And there is that heart of yours," St. Peter starts, his face going serious."You have to let her go eventually. There are more things more beautiful than sweet, iridescent Sydney".
I sigh. He was right. I have to let her go. I'm dead. She's alive. There is no chance for us.
"Then what about the mission,"I ask him.
I don't know why but the mission gives me hope. Maybe it was because it has something to do with Sydney.
"You have to save her,"he simply says.
"Save her from what?"
He takes a deep breath then gives me a grin,"Now that is up to you to find out," he tells me. "So that you will not be alone, I'll give you one companion to guide you".
With a snap of his fingers, a blonde girl about my age appears right in front of us. She's pretty and beautiful. With her pale skin, pinkish lips, wavy blonde hair and slim figure but nothing can compare to Sydney.
"Finn, meet Lucy Campbell. Lucy, Finnegan,"He introduce us. I take out a hand for her to shake but she rejects it and hugs me instead.
"I don't believe in shaking hands,"she tells me.
She lets go of me and I raise my eyebrows. For a girl, she was strong.
"Lucy died at a carcrash a few years ago,"St. Peter explains. "Since you died in a carcrash too, I figured you two would get along".
I turn to her and she smiles at me.
I'm in for a ride alright.

"How long do these last,"I ask Lucy.
"What do you mean? The elevator ride or the mission?"
"Both," I reply.
We were at an elevator that was destined to go to Earth or this place called "The Inn Between" where people or souls like me stay...until we finished our mission.
"The elevator last for 2 hours, which gives us plenty of time to know more about each other,"she winks at me. "And the mission...well, it depends".
"Ohh... So, 2 hours, huh? Are you an angel?,"I ask her.
She giggles," I can never get use to that question. Ummm...Technically, yes. I volunteered to accompany ghost who are in a mission so...I'm a ghost down there...and so are you".
I furrow my eyebrows,"Then...where are your wings then?".
She looks at me, amused, "We can show them whenever we want. We can hide it whenever we want".
I nod my head,"Okay I have a lot of question so...would it be alright?".
"Go ahead. I'm used to it"
"Why did you volunteer to...accompany souls...like mine?"
She turns to me, her face seriuos,"Adventure. Fun...Love".
"Love? Angels are allowed to date?,"I ask her.
"Of course. Just don't date humans"
My heart drops and I think of Sydney.
"I remember when I was still human. How many boys and girls I dated,"Lucy continues.
"Girls?". I have to be honest. I'm shocked. Someone like her to be...you know.
"I was a bisexual," she explains. "But there are also pros and cons in dating angels". She changes the subject.
"What do you mean?,"I ask her.
"It has to be the right one,"she answers. "Sometimes, you have to wait a thousand years".
I don't know why but my hopes get high.
I would love to wait a thousand years. As long as Sydney will be The One.
