It was a chilly morning, but Luke was warm nevertheless due to Calum being curled up beside him. It took Luke a fleeting second to recollect what happened the previous day and he remembered Calum's awful breakdown, and it made him noticeably cringe before Luke sat up, Calum's head falling to rest on Luke's chest, quiet snores escaping the kiwi boy's lips. Luke smiled faintly and inwardly wondered what it'd be like to kiss those lips.

It probably felt like the universe exploding behind your eyelids, or the stars shedding their sweet, milky light over your skin to create a radiant warmth unlike any other. Maybe it felt like flames igniting from a mere ember of a feeling, whilst it sparked into a blaze of a starcrossed love story.

The thoughts made Luke's head spin as he kissed the side of Calum's head lightly and lightly shook the boy's shoulders. Calum's eyes cracked open as he inhaled a loud, long breath, groaning as he stretched and arched his back from slumber.

"Luke," Calum whispered and gave a small smile up at the blond boy. Luke returned the smile with a cheeky grin, chuckling quietly as he brushed Calum's blond streaks from his forehead with his fingertips to see his warm chocolate brown gaze. Calum rubbed his eyes and yawned, sitting up.

"Hey, since you're Mister Cheif-of-The-Glade, shouldn't you have been up earlier?" Calum questioned, his voice deep and husky as he yawned again, sitting on the edge of the stone platform that acted as a bed and glancing at Luke, who still lay slumped back against the wall (which would've been a headboard if it were a real bed) and let his blue gaze scan the other boy's facial expression for a fleeting moment.

"No," Luke murmured, his voice raspy as well as he sat up, sitting behind Calum and wrapping his legs around his waist and nestling his head on his shoulder, smiling at him as his breath billowed over Calum's neck. The kiwi boy shivered a bit but smiled nevertheless.

"You're more important than any duty I could possibly have," Luke continued, sighing a bit afterwards. "I don't know why you came along and screwed with my feelings but you did, and I guess I gotta thank you for that."

"Then you're welcome," Calum chuckled as Luke brought his arms around his torso, practically clinging to his back like a sloth now. With a playful smirk Calum stood up and Luke squeaked. He was naturally taller than Calum so this was strange for him. The taller one being on the shorter's back. Luke was piggyback-riding Calum now as Calum spun them both in a circle, Luke mewling in surprise before laughing when they stopped, his grip around Calum tightening before he dropped to the ground again, now on his feet as he hooked an arm around Calum's waist.

He pulled the darker-haired boy into him and rested their foreheads together, one of Luke's hands finding Calum's hips and rubbing slow, soft circles on his hipbones. Calum sighed, closing his eyes contentedly at the simple gesture that seemed to suck the stress out of him as Luke pulled his head back, using a free hand to tip Calum's chin upwards so their eyes met.

"Calum, I kinda really want to kiss you right now," Luke mumbled with a lighthearted laugh, and just to piss him off, Calum shook his head, unable to hide the smug grin on his face as he pulled hesitantly from Luke's warm embrace.

"Nope," Calum jeered, popping the 'P' as he clicked his tongue, staring at Luke, who looked dumbfounded and also bothered at the same time. That probably wasn't the reaction he was looking for.

"Save it, prettyboy," Calum laughed when Luke opened his mouth to protest. "Got work to do, Mr. Honcho. Go," Calum was smiling faintly now as Luke pecked his cheek and grinned wolfishly at him as he disappeared from the abode, leaving Calum in a really emotionally confused state.
