The next day, Luke was still gone. Dead.

Calum shouldn't be surprised. Luke wasn't alive, Luke was no longer with him. Every sign told him that, the fact that Luke's heart was not beating, the fact he was not breathing, he was still life. His pale skin was painted and streaked with dried red blood, his body laid in that same abode but on the little bed, at least one med-jack always watching over him. Calum sat in the corner of the abode, in silence.

The silence was music to his ears, deafening but enjoyable all the same. Each breath him and the med-jack exhaled were the only sounds in the abode, it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. That is, until Calum spoke.

"Do you think he's really dead?"

The med-jack, Tally, looked up and shrugged, a truly downcast look on his face.

"I don't know, I truly don't, Calum." Tally murmured sadly, his eyes flickering to Luke's still body.

"There's got to b-be a way, he c-can't be gone," Calum's voice was trembling now, his breath quickening. Tally slowly ambled towards Calum and kneeled by him, putting a hand on his shoulder.

"If Luke really is dead," That sentence that Tally spoke made tears well in his eyes, his heart cracking into a thousand tiny pieces. "At least he died knowing you loved him."

That's what made Calum break. "But that's the thing!" He sobbed. "He didn't know I loved him. He always said 'I love you' but I never said it back." Calum cried, tears streaming down his dirtied cheeks. He hadn't left the abode since yesterday, not for food, not for water, not for anything. He would not leave Luke.

"You just have to follow your heart, Cal. If he really is gone, your heart has another path laid out for you."

"Enough with the inspirational bullshit!" Calum hissed but was choked by another sob, his entire body trembling as he fisted at his hair, his eyes bloodshot. "But what if your heart is in a million pieces? Which piece do you follow?" Calum asked shakily, and Tally almost looked amused but by Calum's wrecked state, he was all-to serious.

"You follow the piece that fell in love with Luke." Tally replied, obviously not knowing that goddammit, Calum loved Luke with every part of him. He loved Luke with everything he had, more than he loved himself - Scratch that.

That isn't very much.

His love for Luke is like the stars. Calum always came back to this phrase, because as soon as Luke had said it, Calum melted inside.

"Luke," Calum whispered, snapping out of his trance. Luke was looking at him unlike anyone else had ever gazed at him - With pure affection, like he was the most prized thing in the universe.

"Don't look at me like that," Calum whimpered, his eyes flitting downwards to look at their bare bodies pressed against one another.

"Like what?" Luke asked innocently.
"Like... Like you care about me. Like I'm important... I'm just, like, a fallen star." Calum said, crestfallen and deflated. Luke ghosted his lips along Calum's, their lips touching as Luke spoke.
