"I don't fucking get it!" Calum's voice echoed in a stentorian, almost frenzied tone in the small abode, gripping furiously at his hair, silent tears streaming down his cheeks.

Michael was the one hurting Luke. It was all Michael's fault. Everything.

Whipping back around to face the red – haired boy, eyes ablaze with flames of fury dancing in their brown depths, Calum wrenched his face up to stare directly into Michael's green eyes, cold and emotionless contrasting Calum's angered, frightful, saddened ones.

"I don't fucking get it," He hissed again, dropping back onto his heels from his toes. "Why would you hurt Luke? What the fuck is wrong with you?" He spat, Luke crippled against the wall, struggling to remain conscious.

It was in that moment that footsteps were heard outside the abode and about four boys trekked inside, breathless and quizzical. Among them were Vinny, Renzo, Shawn, and Ashton.

Shawn drew out a long machete–like blade from a leather sheath he wore across his torso, the tips and edges slightly rusted but definitely sharp. The other three boys had long wooden spears, eyes all trained on Michael.

"What the hell is going on here?" Shawn ushered calmly, before nearly dropping his blade when he saw Luke curled up feebly, naked and wounded against the wall.

Ashton seemed to be one step ahead of him as he dropped his wooden spear and rushed to kneel down in front of Luke, murmuring to himself.

"He's hurt, he's so, so hurt," Ashton whimpered, stating the obvious.

"Well thanks, Captain Obvious!" Calum hissed and the curly – haired boy flinched at the time, but inwardly Ashton knew it was Calum's worry and grief swallowing his real personality. "Help him!"

Ashton's face faltered for a moment, as if contemplating whether he actually could help Luke still.

Vinny looked at Ashton briefly, and the two exchanged a long and knowing look while Michael stood, frozen, eyes slightly wide. He knew he had been caught. Maybe even put to a death sentence, banished into The Maze. Calum didn't really mind that.

"Should we try the..." Ashton broke off because Vinny interrupted, nodding vigorously.

"Use it. It's worth a try. It might be the only thing that can save him at this point." The freckled boy replied and Ashton nodded, looking at Renzo now.

"Go get Tally and Jacob, have then bring it," Ashton instructed to Renzo, who nodded, gripping his spear and dashing out of the abode.

Ashton murmured sweet, soft words to Luke, whose chest heaved as he struggled to hold on, to hold on to life, and everything he loved. Calum.

"What are you going to give him?" Calum questioned but Michael only laughed bitterly, making Shawn tense up his shoulders and grip the small handle of the long blade tighter, his elbow bent and aiming the spear at Michael as if about to fire an arrow from a bow.

"You think that will save him?" He barked a cruel laugh. "You truly are stupider than I thought. Well done."

"Why did you hurt him?" Calum exclaimed, breaking into a sob, shoulders trembling. "Why, Michael?"
