"And you want that by Friday?" I confirmed, switching the phone from one hand to the other while I cleaned my paintbrushes.
"Yes, please." Mr. Waters replied in his heavy British accent.
"Alright. I'll have that right in for you." I replied, turning the sink off.
"Thank you so much, Calista." He said. (A/N pic of Callie to the side)
"You're very welcome. I'll call you when it's ready to be picked up." I replied. We said our goodbyes and I hung up.
I then turned to my blank canvas, The Fray softly playing in the background. The yellow-ish/white light coming from the paper lanterns strung across the ceiling of my studio illuminated the canvas.
How the hell am I supposed to make a logo for the local bakery?
I began brainstorming ideas. Finally settling on one, I check the time on my phone. It was 5:42.
Crap. Alex would be pissed if I wasn't home by six, and with a ten minute drive plus traffic, I couldn't waste any more time here.
Shooting up from the stool where I had been sitting, I turned off my radio and grabbed my patterned bag, slipping my phone into the back pocket of my jeans.

"You're late." Were the first words I heard when I opened the door to the flat.
"Sorry. Got a late phone call from the local bakery about helping them create a logo for their business." I said, dropping my bag onto the counter and giving Alex a quick kiss on the cheek.
"It's fine, just don't let it happen again," he replied. "We're going out to dinner with my friends tonight."
I frowned. "I thought we were going to make dinner together."
"Well you see, I wanted to do that, but then Max called and said that they were going to that new restaurant down the street, and so I accepted. Plus making dinner is too hard." He said.
I sighed, not really surprised that he was saying this. He had cancelled anything we've planned together these last few months.
"Alright." I said, grabbing my bag again and headed towards the door.
"Woah, babe. You need to go change." He said, grabbing my wrist.
My face contorted into confusion. "What do you mean?" I asked, looking down to see my flowery shirt and dark-wash jeans.
"Put on a dress or at least something a little nicer." He explained. I rolled my eyes and made my way to our bedroom. I quickly changed into a flowery summer dress from Delia's and slipped on my TOMS.
"There. Better?" I asked, arching an eyebrow as I emerged from the room.
He tore his gaze up from his phone and forced a smile. "Much."
We walked out together, my arms crossed over my chest and his slipped into his pockets. We used to hold hands all the time, and now whenever I tried to, he just pulled away, his face full of something that resembled disgust.
I sighed.
This was going to be a long night.

"...and so I punched the guy and said 'don't you ever f*cking tell me what to do ever again!'" David, one of Alex's friends finishes. The whole table errupted in laughter except for me. David took another swig of his beer, as did all the other men at the table.
I tried to chip away some of the paint that was on my hands from one of my earlier paintings.
I tapped Alex's shoulder. He looked over at me.
