Callie's POV:

I ran to the kitchen, my mind a mixture of confusion, shock, and fear.

"Someone drive me to the hospital." I demanded loudly, stopping all conversation that had been going on.

"O-okay. I'll take you." Liam volunteered.

"Like, now." I said urgently.

He stood up and put on his shoes, a little too slowly for my liking.

"Alright, let's go."

When we arrived at the hospital, I was dragging Liam behind me, eager to find out what was going on.

"Alex Rivers." I said urgently.

"Room 307." the receptionist informed us.

We quickly made it to the floor and were running down the hallway.

"Here." Liam called, pointing to a door. I went in quickly and stopped dead in my tracks.

There were doctors surrounding him, the heart monitor making a 'beeeeeeeeeeeeep' sound.

"What happened?" Liam asked, causing all of the doctors to look up.

"I'm afraid you're a bit too late, Miss. He's passed away. If you could just wait out in the hallway, I'll be with you shortly to clear this up." One of them said. I just nodded, unable to speak.

"Come on, love." Liam mumbled into my ear, taking my wrist and leading me out into the hallway. He sat me down on the floor, my back against the wall, as he crouched down to be eye-level with me.

"Callie, baby, it's going to be okay. Come on, please say something. Callie!" he urged. I tried to speak, but my words got caught in my throat, and instead a sob choked out.

"Shhhh, you're okay." he sat next to me and stroked my hair, though his words had little effect.

I could believe Alex was gone. Just that morning I had said goodbye to him as he left for University.

Liam's POV:

My phone vibrated in my pocket as I tried my best to comfort Callie. I've always been a very sympathetic person, and seeing Callie cry is one of the most heartbreaking things I've ever seen.

"I'll be right back." I assured her. She didnt respond, just kept crying. I sighed defeatedly and stood up, taking my phone out of my left pocket.

"Hello?" I asked.

"What the hell is going on?" A confused Harry asked through the phone.

"Something happened to her boyfriend and when we got here it... It was too late." I said.

"Oh god... How's she holding up?" He asked, referring to Callie.

"Not well. She won't respond to me. She's just sitting in the hallway crying." I informed him, sadness evident in my voice.

"I'm coming." He said determinedly.

"Okay, but make sure it's only you. Too many people will overwhelm her. She's really fragile." I said quietly, not wanting Callie to hear what I was saying.

"Be there in a few." He said, and I hung up.

I just sat next to Callie and tried my best to comfort her until Harry came.

Harry's POV:

I ran down the hallway, dodging carts and tired-looking nurses until I saw two figures sitting against the wall. I jogged over and sat across from Callie. Her knees here up as she buried her head in them, making it so that I couldn't see her face. All I could see was her body shaking with every sob.

"Callie. Hey baby, it's me, Harry. Can you look at me please?" I asked cautiously and as lightly as possible.

She didn't respond, just kept crying.

"She's been like this the whole time." Liam told me. I looked over at him, his eyes full of concern.

We heard someone clear their throat from above us. I stood up and greeted the man.

"I am Doctor Smith. You all may follow me and we can give you the full story." He said.

I bent down and tugged on Callie's arm gently. "Come on, Cal. We're going to go find out what happened."

Much to my surprise, she moved her legs and lifted her face, her eyes meeting mine. Her face was makeup-stained, her gaze empty.

"C'mon." I said. I helped her up and put my arm around her trembling waist, guiding her down the hall behind Liam and the doctor.

He led us to a room with four chairs. We each took one.

"Alex was very drunk when he was driving, which can be very dangerous," the doctor said, glancing to each of us. "He ran a red light and an oncoming semi-truck hit him head-on. Alex was at the hospital not two minutes before the injuries got the best of him."

"Have you contacted his family?" Liam asked.

"They have been informed. His parents will be here soon to fill out all of the forms and such. You all need to leave, and we will call you first thing in the morning. It seems as if this young lady will need some rest." He said.

We exited the room, Callie still not responding to anything.

"I'll drive her home. See you there." I said to Liam. He nodded and headed to the other end of the parking lot.

"Alright, do you want to stay at my place for tonight?" I asked her.

She didnt say anything, but she did slightly nod her head. I smiled weakly at the fact that at least she could respond in that way.

Five minutes into the car ride, she fell fast asleep.

We arrived at the house. I got out of the car and ran over to her side.

I picked her up bridal-style, and just before I opened the door to the house, I kissed her forehead and whispered, "Everything's gonna be okay. I'm here for you."
