Callie's POV:
-The next day-
I woke up the next morning with a slight headache. Maybe I had had one drink too many last night... oops. My phone vibrated on my nightstand. I looked at it and thought that maybe I should answer it, but then decided against it. I seriously find it impossible to text as soon as I wake up.
I look at the calendar hanging above the desk on the wall opposite to the bed I was currently laying in. It was Monday, meaning that everyone that I knew was either at University or working.
I got up (after much effort) and made myself some tea. The nice thing about being an artist with no particular schedule was that I could pretty much do whatever I wanted as long as I got done what I need to get done before the deadline. I had finished every sculpture and painting that I needed to.
I heard my phone vibrate from the bedroom yet again. Curious as to who was trying to contact me, I decided to answer it.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Hey baby!" A woman's voice said into the phone.
"Mom! Hey, how are you?" I asked, glad that she was calling. My dad had died when I was younger, so naturally my mom and I grew closer. I hadn't talked to her much at the funeral since there were tons of people there.
"Are you busy today? I was wondering if you wanted to go shopping, have a little mother-daughter time." she offered.
"That sounds like so much fun!" I replied.
"I'll be there in an hour, yeah?" she said.
"Alright. I'll be ready." I said, not bothering to hide my excitement.

"I think you've gotten taller!" My mom exclaimed as she embraced me. I laughed, knowing that I definitely hadn't gotten taller. If anything, I'd gotten shorter.
"I think you've gotten younger!" I said, smiling. I liked this side of my mom; teasing a carefree. I know that when it comes to business at her law firm, she could be very cold-hearted.
"Shall we go? There's a brand new mall about half an hour away. It has everything!" She gushed as we got in her car.
As we drove, we caught up on what was happening in our lives. I missed my mom, though I don't regret my decision to move out at seventeen. Besides, she lives twenty minutes away.
"So, how've you been holding up since... you know..." she asked.,
"Surprisingly well. I mean, I still get waves of missing him (A/N they're more like tsunami tides in my eyes never getting dry... okay I'll stop with the ed sheeran lyrics okay goodbye) but my friends have been helping me a lot."
"Friends?" she asked, surprised. I didn't blame her- friends were rare for me as I got older.
"Yeah. I met this guy named Harry when he came to pick up a logo I made for the business he works for," I said, leaving out the whole rescue-in-the-rain thing. "And then when I went to the cafe, I met these two guys named Niall and Liam. They invited me to dinner with them and some friends, and it turns out that Harry was friends with them. They introduced me to these two other guys, Zayn and Louis, and then Liam, Zayn, and Louis' girlfriends." I said, happy that I had finally found people that I could call me friends.
"That's great! I'm so glad that you've found people that make you happy!" she said, seeming genuinely pleased.
"But I think one of my friendships is kind of weird. Harry and I... I don't know. He's been there for me through all of the Alex drama, and last night we almost kissed. The weird part is that I actually wanted to. But then I stopped myself and basically ran away." I said, kind of disappointed in myself that I just stopped him and didn't give him any explanation.
