The four capitals watched from the sidelines as fists, legs, and weapons were thrown about. It was a bit of a quick fight and part of the time Temperance's attention was focused on Emma. Seeing the little girl cry just made him feel bad but he wasn't sure why. I feel like I should know her, but I don't know why. He thought as he was fighting. Just as quickly as the fight began, it ended. "Gck! How is this possible...?"
The capitals got up from their spot on one of the logs that they sat at during the fight and went over to the adults. Emma stood in the front next to America. She had to know what was going to happen next with her Father. America tried to convince Canada but to no luck so France suggested that he could try knocking some sense into him. When he went up to Canada though, everyone was shocked when he slapped Canada on the cheek and told him to stop acting like a child.
"France, stop!" America shouted as he ran over and pushed France away from Canada. Emma was a little shocked by the action. "He's not acting like a child. He's just...lonely." America defended Canada, turning to look glance back at his brother for a moment. "He's just a kind soul who has been pushed back and forgotten by all of us, who tries his hardest yet still gets nothing."
Everyone could only stare at America as he spoke. They had no idea he could be so thoughtful. Emma seemed one of the most surprised. She never expected her Uncle to admit he was wrong about anything, yet here he was admitting that he had been a bad brother.
America then turned to face Canada; "I'm sorry for not being there like the brother I'm supposed to be. I didn't even realize how important you were to me until there was a chance I could lose you. But...if you want to stay here with your ideal me...I won't stop you. I just want you to be happy." After he was finished, America turned and walked away, leaving everyone in shock.
"America, wait, if you leave him here then he'll-" Britain tried to tell America.
"It's his choice, not mine," America said as he walked away.
Canada looked at his brother and then had a light surround him for a brief moment before he said, "America...that's all I ever wanted to hear."
When America quickly turned around to look at Canada, a look of surprise was on his face. "...Did....you just call me America?"
"It's all starting to come back to me...and all my life I never heard you say anything so sweet before. You really do care about me."
"Of course I do! You're my brother, I always love you, even if I don't show it. Though I really should."
"Well...at least you're trying. And I'll try harder to be more involved and noticed. We're not the best brothers, but we can be if we both tried."
"Ahem." France coughed, getting the attention of the two brothers.
"Oh, right!" America said. "And everyone else cares about you too. If they didn't care, they wouldn't have come along to save you."
"Really?" Canada realized. "Oh...thank you, all of you. I'm sorry for trying to kill you all."
"It's water under the bridge," Russia stated. "Don't worry about it."
America then went back over to the group of nations and picked up Emma and brought her over to her Dad. "And this little girl right here though cares about you most of all," America told his brother. "She loves you so much that she'd put herself in danger just to save you. You're lucky Canada, to have such a brave little girl."
Canada smiled at America and then at Emma before taking her out of America's arms. "I sure am," He said as Emma giggled.
The little Canadian then wrapped her arms around Canada's neck and hugged him tightly. "I missed you Pa," she muttered into his shirt. "I'm glad you're back."
"Me too, Maple Leaf."
"So...do you still go by Temperance?" America asked.
"Oh no," Canada replied as he held Emma. Then his outfit changed back to his normal look. "My name is Canada."
Everyone smiled at Canada, glad to have him back. "This is wrapping up nicely," Amelia said.
"You are going to be grounded for life when we get back," Britain told her in a stern voice.
"What?!"
"Do not think you are out of hot water either Natie," Russia said, making the little Russian laugh nervously.
"None of your girls are out of trouble," Germany spoke up, crossing his arms over his chest and giving each of them a stern look. "Ve specifically told you all not to come."
"This is not a game you know," Britain scolded. "This can be a life-or-death situation! That's why we left you all back home!"
"We know. We ran into the Fauchereve already," Amelia stated.
"You did?!" The countries gasped.
"Yeah," Rose said. "He was really scary. He had Noa trapped here. We rescued her though. That's gotta count for something, right?"
Before the countries could answer, the ground suddenly began to tremble, halting the conversation. "What was that?" Russia asked after the ground shook.
"This world must be falling apart! We have to go, now!" Britain shouted.
Everyone quickly rushed out of the room and went back to the cave. When they got to the cave though, they found Devil covered in scratches and blood."What happened??" Russia questioned.
"Follow me if you want to get out of here alive," he instructed before heading off ahead of them all.
Another tremor shook and Russia knew something was terribly wrong. "You heard him!" He shouted. "Come on, let's go!" Russia then picked Natie up and carried her. Britain did the same with Amelia, Canada did the same with Emma, and Germany picked Rose up. The countries didn't want the girls to be left behind and they knew they had to hurry as quickly as possible.
As they ran, Amelia explained how the other capitals were in the dreamworld as well and were up North. When they finally caught up with Devil, they saw that the staircase was destroyed. "Devil?" Russia spoke.
"The staircase leading up to the castle was destroyed by debris. There is no way out," he said, making all hope of escaping alive fade.
"WHAT?" America shouted.
"You mean we're trapped down here forever?!" Canada said in surprise.
"The castle will probably collapse and crush us first," Britain said, making things even worse.
Everyone was quiet.
"So, zhis is it? Zhere's no way out?" France sadly asked.
Britain sighed. "It would seem so."
The four young girls couldn't believe that this was the end. They were never going to get home? Amelia held tightly to her Dad and hugged him. Natie stood next to her Dad and tried her best not to cry. The same went for Emma, who, just minutes ago, was filled with joy about having her Dad back. Rose held tightly to Germany as she had tears gather in her eyes.
"Mr. Germany, we can't die," she hiccuped. "We have to save Papa and Katrina. You promised, that we would save them."
"Rose," Germany tried to figure out what to tell Rose. He couldn't say everything was going to be all right.
Is this the end?
