Louis POV
"Who's Nick?"
I freeze. I'm completely innocent, and I know that, but how is Harry going to react to this? I can't get in trouble for getting in touch with my ex, can I?
"Nick," I state, grabbing for the note in between his fingers, "Is an old friend. Liam and I ran into him while we were out eating dinner." I finish, walking to the living room, where Liam sits. He's a big guy, and I'm in need of some sort of protection. Harry can be quite scary when he's fumed, and I've learned that the hard way.
"So he's only a friend?" He questions, and I can hear the hint doubt rolling off of his tongue. I look over to Liam, who is giving me an expecting look, signaling for me to confront Harry, and I know he's right.
"Well, I haven't seen him in years," is all I say. I don't want to suddenly mention to Harry about Nick and I's past. I know Harry, so I know how he'll jump to conclusions. I want to make that he knows Nick and I are absolutely nothing.
"Oh, so you used to be friends then?" He asks, his tone lighting up a bit.
"Well, yeah. We actually used to date," I explain like its no big deal. I try to avoid his eyes after I speak. I can't dare to look and see Harry's reaction. After a few moments, and the apartment remains silent, I slowly lift my head, locking eyes with a confused Harry, who is furrowing his eyebrows, and scrunching his nose in the cute way he always does.
"You've only mentioned yourself dating one other person in the past," he whispers, staying in his standing position. Liam takes that as his cue to leave, and walks off to his room, leaving the two of us with some sort of privacy.
"I have," I nod curtly, not wanting to enter further detail, even though I know tons of questions are about to be shoved down my throat. It's obvious where this is leading to ..
"Aaaaand this is him," Harry says, more so to himself. It feels almost as though we are millions of miles apart. The tension in the air is unbearable, and I just want to take a step forward and reach out to grab him, but I somehow don't have the strength to do so. Like I said, we are millions of miles apart.
I take a deep breath, and stand up to be with Harry, but he only takes a step back, which is what ignites the bomb ticking in my brain.
"Harry! You can't possibly be mad at me for having an ex boyfriend , can you?! No! I know you've had your fair share of relationships in the past, so there's no need to suddenly become distant," I shout while moving my hands back and forth, annoyed with Harry's actions. It's pretty hypocritical of him to get this distant with me for talking to my past boyfriend when he's keeping in touch with all of his past relationships. I'm well aware of the fact he's close friends with some of his exes!
"But this hurts Lou! You gave him your number? I know how much he meant to you, what if you realize that you still love him? Would you just leave me?!" He shouts, raising his hands to pull at the end of his curls.
I'm taken aback by his harsh words, "Who the fuck do you think I am!? Have the last four months of our relationship meant absolutely nothing to you? If you think that I could leave you like that at the drop of a pin, then you must not know me at all." My head is screaming. I'm furious at Harry for thinking that I would do such a thing!
