First Assignment (1st Version)

Huff, huff.
My breathing came out in short pants.
Huff, huff, huff.
I still have one more lap until I can finish. Training to be a female bodyguard is difficult, but it will be so worth it when my father assigns me to my first job.
"Come on! You can do it!" My brother shouted.

Our father is the owner of the top bodyguarding company, training everyone to become the best bodyguard possible. After several years of hard work and lots of training, the person gets assigned to his or her first job. If nothing bad happens during the time you're bodyguarding the client, then you officially become a bodyguard of the Hernandez Bodyguarding Company.

Well, in my brothers' case and mine, we've been training ever since we were small.

Today is the last day for training for me. Tomorrow I'll be taking the qualification tests, to see if I am fit to start my career as a bodyguard. I'm running laps around the HQ, building up my strength and stamina.

After I finished my lap, I jogged to where my brother, Alec, is standing. He grinned at me, "You look like hell."
I slapped him playfully. "Shut up." Without looking, I knew my dark brown, almost black hair is sticking up in all directions, and my face was shiny with sweat. My glasses kept slipping off, making me look like a crazy lady.
"But it's true!" He protested, "Anyways, Dad wants to see you in his office."
"Mhm. Okay, see you." I grabbed my jacket off the ground and slowly walked towards my room. A nice, cold shower sounds wonderful.
Ugh. Why did my brothers make it seem so easy to become a bodyguard? Ace, the eldest son, is currently the best bodyguard in my dad's company, and Alec is a close second ever since he became an official bodyguard three years ago.

I was debating whether I should train a bit more this evening or not, when I crashed into a wall.
"Ouch." I looked up. Scratch that, this is not just a wall. It's a human wall, aka my oldest brother Ace.
"Be careful, you have your fitness test tomorrow." He looked closely at my face, checking if I'm alright.
Sometimes, living with two older brothers who are overly protective is so annoying. They treat you like a glass doll. Asking if you're alright all the time, and trying to keep you from doing "dangerous" things.
"Oh yeah, Dad wants you to go to his office right now. Good luck."
"Uh... Okay. Later!" I hurried to my dad's office. You never know what might happen when he waits too long.
"Later, sis." Ace then carried on to wherever his destination is.

I timidly knocked on my father's door. "Uh... Dad? It's me."
"Come in." As soon as I closed the door behind me, he motioned to the seat in front of his desk, "Have a seat."
I sat down, and asked, " Why did you ask me to come?"
He chuckled, "Well, a client wants a female bodyguard tomorrow. And since you're the only one who's actually ready to take on a job, I assigned you."
"What? Really?" I'm seriously surprised, "But what about my test tomorrow?"
"Alec told me that you're more than ready, and I've seen some of your training session with him, too. I think you're ready for your first client." He signed, "But are you sure you want to take on a job now?"
"Yes. Of course." I replied, "I've had the same training as Ace and Alec, I'm ready."
"Okay. But be careful." He dismissed me, "Go take a shower and pack your bags. You're leaving at eight tomorrow."

Omg I can't believe I'm starting another story! Now I have to write several stories at the same time *facepalm*. But, I'm also happy to just put out new stories for my readers.

I've had the longest writer's block for the past few weeks, and I have the urge to just start another book instead of just waiting for the writer's block to go away.
I promise I'm not abandoning the other stories, just taking a break until I have some good ideas for the next chapters.

4/26 Edit: I've made some minor changes (they don't affect the chapter) to this chapter, and wow... I can't believe how much potential this chapter holds after re-reading it. Hope I don't mess this up this time.
