First Assignment (1st Version)

Eleven (Part 2)

As soon as the cab disappeared from my sight, I felt my heart sink. Alice noticed the change in my expression and asked, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing." I said before turning around and heading into my home office.

Maybe doing some work will take my mind off her. She said she'll be back in a few weeks, but I wish it was much sooner.

Knock, knock.

"Sir, Miss Jade is on the line." I heard Albert say from the other side of the door. "You forgot your phone outside."

"Okay." I took my phone from him, and took a deep breath before answering. "Hello?"

Her velvety voice filled my ears. "Um... Eric? I forgot to tell you, the bodyguards will be there shortly. Their names are Jackson and Aribelle."

"Okay. Anything else?" I asked, trying to keep my voice level.

"I guess... Well, Aribelle can be a little overwhelming at times, so you have to make your boundaries clear on the first day."

"Got it."

"Can I speak to Alice?" She said after a moment of hesitation.

"Sure." Sighing mentally, I went to her room and handed her my phone. "It's Jade."

Hearing her name, Alice excitedly took the phone from me and slammed the door in my face. Girls and their need for privacy when talking to each other.

"Sir? Miss Louisa is at the gates, requesting entrance." Albert informed me, waiting for instructions.

"She won't leave unless I let her is, right?" I asked. He nodded. "Okay, let her in."

"Eric!" Louisa said as soon as she walked in. "I heard your girlfriend left?"

Gritting my teeth, I answered her, "I don't see how that's any of your business."

"Aw..." She cooed, "Is my Eric darling loney? Don't worry, I'll take your mind off her..."

"No. Why are you here?" I can't wait until she leaves.

"Don't be so cold to me... Anyways, my brother has a proposal to make." Yes, it always has something to do with him.

She continued, "Become his company's partner for a year, and half of what he earns will be yours during that time."

They think I'm easily moved by money? If I was, I would've sold my hotels to him for the insane prices he proposed. "I'm not interested in being partners."

"Even if we told your secret?" She asked slyly.

"And who would believe you? Jade is my girlfriend, no matter what you say. Or what anyone says for that matter. If you'd excuse me, I have actual work to do." I turned of my heels and motioned for Albert to escort her out.

"You will work with my brother and become mine sooner or later!" She screeched before I heard the door slam close.

I heard the intercom buzz soon after. Thinking it was Louisa, I ignored it, but Albert went to check. "It's the bodyguards Miss Jade sent, sir."

Sighing in relief, I said, "Let them in." Before going back to my office to do my work.

"Hello. My name is Jackson, and this is Aribelle." I heard someone say.

Looking up, I saw a guy with bleached blonde hair, and a girl who looks like she's trying too hard to be sexy. Neither of them looks like actual bodyguards.

"Are you sure you guys are up for the job?" I questioned.

"Yes. And I can also do some other things besides bodyguarding..." The girl drawls.

"I have a girlfriend for those things." I smirked at her reaction: wide eyes, opened mouth. I wish Jade wouldn't lash at out me when she finds out.

I feel like putting Eric's POV in another chapter seems much more organized (blame my picky-ness), so I decided to write a Chapter Eleven (Part 2).

Nothing much happened, but if a book is filled with action from page to page, (in my opinion) it makes the events unrealistic. Like who is so unlucky to get almost killed or kidnapped every minute, every day?

Anyways, both of these chapters are short because they're supposed to be in one, but I want to show Eric's POV along with Jade's.
