First Assignment (1st Version)

Eleven

I stretched and woke up in my own bed. How did I get here? I thought I was researching about the Black Mafia?

During the past few weeks, I found some information on that Frank dude mentioned by that man on that night. He's just one of the people working for Diablo, the head of the Black Mafia family. What really got me interested, was that I could find information about almost everyone in the Black Mafia family, but nothing on Diablo.

"Is she awake?" I heard someone whisper from the door.

"Yeah, I think so." Another replied. I quickly recognized them as Eric and Alice's voice.

"Come in." I said when on of them knocked on the door. "I just woke up, so excuse my appearance."

"Eric is going to the construction site of the newest hotel in the Reinhardt Hotels." Alice told me after flopping onto my bed. "I swear, your bed is much more comfortable than mine."

"And this time, the three of us are going together!" Alice flipped onto her back. "It's gonna be so much fun!"

"Okay..." I said in a sleepy coice. "When are we leaving?"

"Tomorrow, first thing in the morning." Suddenly, I felt ticklish on my stomach.

"Tickle, tickle, tickle!" Alice said while tickling me. Ever since we found each other's ticklish spots, we've been trying to tickle each other whenever.

I pulled my blanket up to my chin. "Ahahahaha! S-stop it!"

"Alice, leave Jade alone so she could get ready." Eric said. "We're going to have breakfast at Danny's Pancakes."

Hearing the word "pankcake" I quickly jumped out of bed. Realising too late that I'm only wearing an oversized sweater and very short black shorts, I ran into the bathroom. I knew I shouldn't have let Alice buy me this pair of shorts, they look like underwear to me. But... they're actually pretty comfortable.

I took my clothes off, and jumped into the shower. Gotta be fresh for the day! While washing my body, I looked down at the bruise on my stomach. It still haven't faded. The man, from that night, landed a punch on me without me noticing. I have to spend more time working on my reflexes then.

Sighing, I turned off the water and wrapped a fluffy white towel around my body, then brushed my teeth. Letting my hair down to dry naturally, I ran a comb through it to get rid of the big tangles. The little ones, I could deal with once my hair is dry.

We had nothing planned for the day, so I put on a pair of jeans and a cotton T-shirt. I dried my hair with the towel once again, and gave up. In the end, I used a hair dryer to dry my hair, and tied my hair into a simple ponytail.

"Jade~!" Alice sang while snapping her fingers. "What are you having?"

"Oh! Um... Just plain Maple Syrup Pancakes." The Black Mafia has been on my mind ever since we got in the car, and I've been spaced out ever since.

"What's wrong?" Eric asked after giving the waitress our orders.

"Nothing. I just... I might have to go back to headquarter for a while." Seeing the look Alice was giving me, I added, "Don't worry, I'll call to send two other people in my place. Just have some business to attend to."

"When will you be back?" Eric asked.

"Maybe in a few weeks. Maybe." Or until I've gotten some more information about the Black Mafia, and --as my brothers liked to say, 'leveled up'.

"When are you leaving?"

"Probably tomorrow morning. Sorry if it was too sudden." I apologized.

"Nah, it's fine. I'll miss you tons though." Alice said sadly.

"Me too." Wait. Did Eric just say that? Must be my imagination. Just as I was going to confirm what I heard, the waitress came back with our pancakes, and I soon forgot about it.

"See you soon!" I shouted one last time before the cab sped off, away from the Reinhardt siblings. Taking a deep breath, I switched to the serious me.

Time to get down to business.

Short chapter! So sorry, but I just feel like what happens next should be put in a separate chapter. You know?
