Chapter seven
"Would you like me to take your picture?" I heard someone ask from behind us. I turned to see an older woman in maybe her thirties with brown eyes and brown hair looking at me.
"You're not from here are you? You look like tourist and I would be able to get you both in a picture if you want me to."
"We're from Colorado our families are here on business, so no were not from here. And the photo would be nice if you don't mind." Jason replied lying about where we were from. He handed the woman the camera he had bought once she nodded her head and motioned for the camera then walked me towards the stairs that lead to the museum doors. When he sat down on one step he tapped the one below him with his foot. I sat down and let him sit the way he wanted before I changed the way I was seating. He sat with his knees on either side on me and his arms around me, like he was hugging me from behind, so I took my hands and hung them from his arms, leaned back into him and smiled wildly.
"You better be smiling." He whispered in my ear making me smile even more. While I was still smiling wildly the woman snapped the photo then held the camera out in our direction. We got up, walked over and got the camera then thanked the woman for taking our picture.
"Let's head in." Jason said holding out his hand. I took it, still smiling and walked inside. Once we got inside we were told that we couldn't come in if we had our bags with us and we couldn't just leave them outside and risk them getting taken because everything we owned was in them. So after we told the ticket lady some made up story about not having a hotel to stay in yet while our families were in town on business she finally agreed to let us keep our bag up front until we got ready to leave as long as we didn't tell anyone else. We walked inside and immediately walked to the ancient Greek and Roman section. When we got there I could tell there was some type of school trip or tour guide group because there were a good bit of people my age looking at the same piece of artwork while someone was talking to them. For the most part Jason and I tried to avoid the group as much as we could as we took photos with our camera which seemed to have lost the flash, which was fine with us because there was a no flash photography rule for taking pictures. We made a lot of photos of the two of us making funny faces while one of us held out the camera and took the photo. In most of the photos we were just smiling with our faces cheek to cheek as we enjoyed being at the museum, which is what we were doing until we ran into a freckled girl named Nancy. Or at least that's what the boy she knocked down called her. Feeling bad for the kid I walked over and was about to start helping him up when Nancy started talking.
"Watch where you're going next time Jackson." She said looking down at him. Instead of stopping when she said my last name I continued walking over and offered him a hand up. When he took it and I was able to look at his face and I almost let go of his hand and made him fall again because he was the boy from the photo. Luckily for him he had a tight grip on my hand so when I let go slightly he held on and didn't fall on the floor again.
"Look it wasn't his fault." Jason said looking at Nancy.
"Hello there what's your name?" She said changing the subject as she smiled a crooked toothed smile at Jason.
"Never going to happen." I replied after I helped the boy to his feet when I noticed what she was doing, so I just stepped back beside Jason looking like his friend until he reached over and held my hand again.
"I hate couples." She said looking down at our hands.
"Well from what you just said it sounded to me like you wanted to be part of a couple." I told her with a smile on my face. This caused her smile to immediately turn into a frown.
"Now run along and go hit on someone your own age." Jason said waving his hand. Then without saying anything else understandable she turned around and walked back the way she came. Once she was gone the boy I had helped turned and faced us with a smile on his face.
