A life drained of joy
Bleak with washed out colors
Putting on a mask of indifference
With minuscule cracks dominating the painted
Expressions
Drowning under the chipped surface
Degrading into something less than humanI cower in the dark with the shadows shrouding the sparse room
A tremor of light peeks through into the inky midnight
The ruby curtains slam close and the incomprehensible emotions
Elation
Contentment
Are locked awayThe room shatters with cold sharp pinpricks of rain
Fallen drops scatter and seep through the spaces between the floorboards
I adore the rain as the glistening dew hangs upon a blade of grass
Then it slides down and the beauty is gone
The bubble is burst by gravity
Oppressive reality
