You see no matter how far I get
Or how many people I fool
Or the countless prayers uttered in my fleeting dreams
Hoping that the gods allow me the gift to forget
Hoping that Moirai would have a sympathetic hand on the threads of fate
Wondering if my fate would no longer be cruel

I gaze at the stars and map out the hidden constellations
Navigating the infinite possibilities held in store for humanity
I see a lone star far above the rest
Banished from the heavens as part of the final solution
Sent to the farthest lands known to man
The unknown country of the west
As the story would go, the isolated star fell down from grace and landed upon earth
And so its eternal quest began
The everlasting responsibility to uphold the heavens
From the lone star's fiery descent came a notable myth and Atlas was birthed

I've escaped my punishment of isolation and burden
I tricked someone to take my place on the agonizing throne
Released from the stress of humanity's constant battle laden with hurt and anguish
As I lay on the ground near the snowy mountains with thoughts and plans tremulous and uncertain
The unfairness of tricking someone to carry my weight of troubles is troubling because it is a burden I must shoulder alone
A tug on my limbs brings me back to awareness, the sky was abandoned by the twinkling lights
I have tasted the heavens with my covetous eyes as this will be the closest I can touch the heavens knowing that I am forbidden from attaining such rapturous heights
The thorns dig into my skin and my chest starts to cave
I slowly hiss out in pain with acceptance strewn across my face
Knowing that this is for the best as I'm dragged back to my deserving situation
I inhale and contain my screams of desolation and close my weary eyes

Seated and chained to my throne of thorns
Hunched and crooked as I balance the ocean of suffering and resignation upon my trembling shoulders
Obstructed from viewing the celestial night or starry sky
I'll stand here for eternity as death for me has been denied
Hope briefly passes me by as I chain others to the colossal boulder
For a short-lived moment of time
Forever I will be that fallen lone star miserable and forlorn
The thread of fate cannot be hacked as the thorns will always bring me back to my sadness
Condemned to bear the burden and carry myself as Atlas
