Dear Journal,
Friends come and go but family is forever.Nakia's collar jingled throughout the house, as I laid on the floor with Skye's nephew, Kaiden. "Hey buddy," I cooed at him after he placed his hands on my face.
"Uhhhh, why don't you have a shirt on?" Skye's voice sounded from the doorframe.
"Because I don't need a shirt," I respond, a smirk playing on my face.
"Fine. Just don't let Kaid do something he shouldn't do," Her voice got quieter as she walked into the other room. It's easy to say that Kaiden was one of my favorite Zamans. He's only two- so I can't really hold an uplifting conversation with him but it's alright. Him being adorable makes up for it. I know I'm only 18, but damn I could see myself having kids with a very special someone.
Kaiden was the child of Skye's brother. He's pretty animated and is one personal shining star. "Uncle Lu!" Kaiden yelled into my ear, starting to press his hands against my face. I wasn't married to Skye obviously but I guess he has it planted in his head that we'll eventually get married.
"Kaid! What's up?" Of course, he didn't respond, being a typical two-year-old, doing things when he pleases. "Kaid, Kaiden, Kaaaaaiden, Kaiden Vale. Bud, buddy," I plead for a few minutes trying to get his attention off of the television. In this time, I found my shirt, I didn't need it, but I put it on anyway.
After maybe the three minute mark, Kaiden turned his head and crawled over to me. "Uncle Lu, animal cwackers," He says to me, putting his hands out in a grabbing motion. "Alright alright," I nod, picking him up and waltzing to the kitchen.
"Hey Luca," Skye's dad, who allows me to call him Yaser, addresses me.
"Hey Yaser, how's life?" I ask and then turn to put Kaid in his high chair and give him the so beloved animal crackers.
"Good. Good. Ya know, I've been watching you with Kaid and I have to say that you're pretty good with him. I've talked to Skye about it- she agrees."
"I mean, I've known this little guy from the day he was born. If Ahmed isn't around, I'm usually the one with him if I'm here that is," I laugh sitting down on one of the stools.Yaser nods, ponders for a second and then speaks, "It makes sense. Almost perfect sense." He seemed like he wanted to say something more but I left it.
---------------------------------------------
We sat down to dinner and started casual conversations. The speaking stops and I do what I usually do in awkward situations- look at anything in the room instead of the people.
"Luca would you ever have kids with Skye?" What's said snaps me back into reality.
"Oh my god! Ahmed!" Skye shrieks, intensely blushing and sinking in her seat.
"I'm sorry, what?" I ask, a little embarrassed- knowing that a blush was starting on my cheeks.
"Would. You. Ever. Have. Kids. With. Skye?" Ahmed repeats, pretending to use sign language when he spoke.
"We're seniors in high school. What do you not understand?" Skye groans, rolling her eyes.
"I agree but eventually yeah. If they're as beautiful as her of course. It's an opportunity missed if I didn't," I smirk, looking over at her, then back to my plate.
"You're such an assclown," She mumbles, loud enough for me to hear. I just look at her and smile. She of course felt the same.
After dinner we went up to her room, and cuddled speaking here and there. "You seriously want kids with me?" She asked looking up at me.
"Why wouldn't I?" I smile, pressing a kiss to her forehead.
"Have you seen your face? Like a kid having your face might not be a good idea," She says, ever so serious with a disgusted look passing her face."Oh that's it," I exclaim, pressing my fingers into the sides of her body. "Baby! Babe! Luca! Luca baby I'm sorry! Alright I'm sorry! It was a joke! I swear it's a joke!" She screams through her fits of laughter.
I let go of Skye after her constant begging, "You feel the same right? You eventually, someday want to have kids with me right?" I asked, truly concerned. I mean, I thought we were on the same page but I guess not now.
"Baby of course. I've known you my entire life practically. There's no one else I'd rather have kids with. Even Theo James. He's got absolutely nothing on you," She smiles, showcasing the dimples set perfectly in her face.
"That's good to know," I laugh, running my fingers through her hair. "Just not now. Having to push a child out of my vagina- is not an image I enjoy right now," Skye says, opening her eyes for a second to send me a knowing glare before closing them again.
"Alright baby. Whatever you say," I mumble, continuing with playing with her hair.
Even though I didn't say it- I would wait as long as it took for Skye to be ready. I would wait 20 years if it meant she was comfortable in having my child.
