Dear Journal,
Kiss me like it's the last time. This is a day I wished would never come, that I could push away and never have to think about. Yet, here it is. Move-in day. The start of the next four years of our lives. Skye is moving into her dorm at UCLA today. Luckily, she'll be surrounded by some familiar faces, seeing as though Aria will be her roommate for the next four years- there was already a pact made. I know that she's excited, hell we all are, but in the same breath I know she's upset that I won't be so close. I sat in my car for a short minute before getting out, meeting the crisp summer air at 6 am. I walked into the Zaman house and found Skye's mom making breakfast.
"Good morning Hidaya," I smiled as I walked up to her, placing a kiss on her temple as to not interrupt her. Hidaya smiled, putting the spoon down on the stove and wiping her hands on the towel that was on her shoulder before hugging me. "You come visit me, Luca," she whispered, embracing me as tight as she could. I nodded, knowing that as much as Skye had made my family whole, I did the same for the Zamans. "Of course," I smile, pulling away. "My daughter's trying to hold onto every ounce of sleep she can get at the moment. She even went to bed at 8, you know that's crazy for her. You know where to find her," Hidaya laughed, turning back to the breakfast she was making. I nodded at her statement and began climbing the stairs to Skye's bedroom.
Walking into the dimly lit room, I can't help but notice how adorable she looks. Cocooned in her white duvet, with Nakia's head resting on Skye's hip. Nakia looked up at me when I walked closer to the bed and began to lightly wag her tail. "Hey bubba," I whispered to her, lightly petting her in between her ears. She was then content and went back to sleep. I brushed some hair that fell in Skye's face away, smiling to myself. I had to admit to myself that this might look kind of creepy to someone who had no idea what was going on, but she was my girlfriend and it was a tendency I had. I knelt down so that my face was level with Skye's and began to pepper her face with kisses. "Mhm, leave me alone," Skye moaned, turning away from me. "Skye, come on. We gotta get going," I whispered into her neck, crawling in behind her after kicking off my shoes. "No," she groaned, stretching some, raising her arms over her face.
"If you don't get up, I'm leaving," I threatened with a smirk on my face, knowing that that would change everything. "No, you wouldn't" she almost yelled, rolling over and attaching herself to my side. Her death grip showing just how serious she was. "Of course I wouldn't, but seriously love get your cute ass up," I demanded, standing up and subsequently bringing her koala ass with me. "Seriously?" I laugh looking down at her. She rearranges herself so that she's higher on my body and wraps her legs around my left one, her arms doing the same to my neck. "I don't wanna leave, Luca," she whispers, pressing her head into the crook of my neck. "I know baby, but you have to. This is your dream," I whisper, leaning down to press a kiss to the top of her head.
"Okay seriously babygirl, you gotta get ready," I murmured into her hair while placing her down on the floor. Skye pouted for a bit before moving over to the little that was being left in her closet and pulled out some skinny jeans and an old hoodie of mine that she cut into a crop top. "Your mom's making breakfast downstairs," I say, pulling her into me knowing that she was somewhat upset. "M'not hungry," she mumbled into my chest. I tried to stifle my laugh because I knew she was hungry, so I squeezed her towards me and pulled us out her bedroom and down the stairs.
"I'm gonna miss you Skye-Skye," Sarai whispers, holding onto her sister as tight as she can. "Rai, I'm just going to the bathroom for now. You're coming along, right? You can hold onto me for a little longer," Skye laughs, hugging her sister back. "Okay." "Just not now, because I really have to pee, bug." "Oh, sorry," Sarai says sheepishly, letting go of her sister and jumping onto the couch to cuddle me. Skye quickly ran upstairs to relieve herself, leaving Rai and me alone. "Rai-Rai, you wanna know a secret," I ask, raising my eyebrows to sell what I was saying. The twelve-year-old nodded, urging me to continue. I leaned close to Sarai's ear and whispered, "I'm going to miss her too." "Really," she asks, looking up at me almost shocked. "Of course bug. I don't get to see her every day. Just like you, so duh I'm going to miss her." "Well, we can miss her together," Rai says, finding some relief that she isn't alone.
