It was the last semester for them. Only few more months to be spent in Coimbatore. Few more days to roam in the streets of Coimbatore.
Shafna was walking to and fro in tension. Hudson's result was being released that day. Shafna was praying to God to make him get passed in all his subjects.
That was one of her routine and sincere prayers. She was waiting to know God's response to her prayers. She had been nail biting and eyeing the phone with thumping heart.
Her phone rang. She didn't even delay a ring. " Hello Hudson.. What's up?"
" Sorry Shafna. " His voice was down.
"Stop saying sorry. Let me know what happened."
" Shafna.. I'm sorry that I disappointed you. "
" Stop playing Hudson. Tell me now."
" As usual.. I didn't clear my Mathematics papers."
" No.. No.. I won't believe it. Say the truth."
" Why Shafna? Why don't you believe me?"
"I believe in you. I believe in your efforts. And I believe in God. Now tell me the truth. I couldn't accept what you said." Shafna told him with so much confidence.
" Shafna.. Dear.. I couldn't believe your confidence in me. Thanks for trusting my efforts. I passed.. I cleared in all subjects including my arrears. " he said in a happy tone.
" Thank God. I know Hudson. I know you'll clear it. I'm very happy for you. Congrats dear" And she passed a long kiss to him through the phone.
" My friends didn't believe when I said I cleared everything including Maths. Even my parents asked me whether I'm lying. But you.. Shafna.. You believed me blindly. I love you Shafna. I'm really lucky to have you by my side and you're my strength dear. " He was excited.
Shafna was so happy. She hugged her friend and was full of hullabaloo. She dragged her friend and went to the church nearby to thank God for giving the fruit of her prayer.
Their days of togetherness in Coimbatore was draining out like ice cream under sunlight. Days flew away and came their last day. The day for Shafna to leave or to shift to her native.
Hudson travelled with her since he didn't want to lose the 'may be' last chance to be with her.
Unlike the previous journeys with him, which was full of romance, fun and happiness, this was bitter, heavyhearted and gloomy.
Shafna was lying on his shoulders, tugging his hands and in tears. She was not sure how she would live missing him, without hearing his voice, without his sweet talks, without his hugs and kisses.
When she reached her hometown, she left Hudson with her heart full of his loving memories and eyes full of tears.
He was not leaving his hold on her hands. His eyes showed out his pain. His firm hold told his state of mind.
He leaned forward and kissed her forehead. Carrying all the good memories, they left each other with a heavy heart.
The days passed slowly for Shafna. She missed him like anything. Since her parents and sister was with her, she couldn't talk to him like when she was in hostel.
And the same for Hudson also. He too left to Chennai, to his family. And he was trying to get into a good job.
After a month, Hudson visited his aunt's home in Nagercoil. He came there mainly to meet Shafna at least once.
Shafna was roused to know that he was in the same place where she was. She was waiting for the moment to meet him.
One fine day, when Shafna was alone at home, she invited Hudson. It had been more than a month since she met him.
She was in a dual state. Excited to see him and feared to call him home. But once he was in front of her eyes, the fear from her heart just eloped.
Shafna was wearing a black knee length skirt and a white shirt. Her free hair was still wet from bathing. She opened the door and was waiting for him.
Hudson sneaked into her home like a cat. When their eyes met, they didn't delay a second. They hugged each other like the poles of two magnets when brought near attracts and get glued.
They didn't know for how long they stood hugging each other. They never wanted to be apart. That single hug expressed their longing towards the other.
Hudson cupped her face and looked into her eyes. She was also looking into his eyes, the eyes she wanted to drown.
" Do you know how much I missed you? Like hell it was. " Shafna told him with a sob.
" I know dear because I too have gone through the same hell. I missed you sweetheart, missed this face, this eyes, your smile, your voice, everything dear.. I missed you unconditionally."
He hugged her tightly. She wanted to be within his arms forever. He kissed her forehead. She kissed his cheeks. He kissed her lips passionately, with so much love.
Shafna understood how much he missed her from his long kiss. They stopped kissing only when they gasped to breath.
They had so much fun, laughter, playing around, teasing each other, sharing everything that happened, hugging, cuddling, kissing etc etc.
Hudson and Shafna tried to fulfill their missing days in that one day together. But they were not aware that, this one day would make them to miss each other even more.
After few days, Hudson called Shafna to inform that he got a job in a BPO. And he decided to continue it until he gets into a better job.
Shafna's parents arranged a job for her in recommendation in a small software company in Nagercoil itself. But she didn't want to work there and was trying some fake reasons to leave to Chennai.
Her mom and dad wanted her to be with them since they missed her for the past four years. For her parents wish, Shafna too decided to stay with them and join the job there.
She couldn't inform Hudson about her decision because her mobile got some problem and couldn't use it.
So she mailed him. She knew how he would feel about her decision of staying home. She knew it would hurt him.
She was literally crying while typing the mail. ' How will I be without seeing you? How will I pass the days without you near me? I'll miss you Hudson. I'm sorry for doing this'
