Josh's POV
I invite Sarah over to hang out with the band and we sit with our Tim Hortons, talking. "So have you found a job yet?" Ian asks. Matt slaps him in the back of the head. Sometimes Ian can be an idiot.
"Dude! She just moved here!" He yells. Sarah laughs and eats another donut. I think it's her third, which is fine. I have no problem with her eating habits, it's none of my business.
"It's fine. No I haven't, any suggestions?" I instantly think of 604 records. They're always looking for new secretaries.
"Do you like music?" I ask, maybe a bit too eagerly.
"No shit, Sherlock." Sarah looks at me with a smirk.
"Well, I don't know. You seemed pretty buzz kill about it earlier." I laugh.
"No. I was just tired and cranky. I actually love music. It's what I wanted to go into, until a bunch of shit happened . . ." She trails off. What happened? Don't push into it, Josh, she obviously doesn't want to talk about it.
"You should apply at 604 records. They're always looking for new secretaries, that band Marianas Trench is really demanding, apparently." Mike smiles. Nice promo, idiot. Now Sarah will find out that we're famous. Sure, it would have happened eventually, but I wanted a little time first.
"Who's Marianas Trench?" She asks, innocently. I groan. She hasn't even heard of us. Americans!
"They're a famous Canadian band. But you really should see about a job at 604." I bring back the topic, before Sarah can Google us, doomming our friendship. "I pass by on my way to work everyday, I could put in your resume for you, if you'd like."
Sarah nods and stands to give everyone a hug goodbye. Wow, she only just met us, that's pretty trusting of her. "I better head back. Ryan and Tanner are probably worried sick. But first, are any of you gay?" Sarah asks. All the guys start laughing, pointing at me.
"It was ONE TIME! What the actual fuck!?" I yell, looking at Sarah sheepishly. She laughs and turns around to leave the apartment. One time, and suddenly you're labelled as the band's gay boy.
"You really seem to like her." Matt announces, as soon as she's out the door. I mutter a few curses under my breath and look around at the guys.
"I just hope that her knowing that we're famous doesn't change anything." I sigh. I guess we'll find out when I score her job at 604 records.
*****
I wake up at 7:00 am and get ready for the day. I grab a white button up shirt and black skinny jeans. Throwing them on, I walk out of my room to the kitchen. I make a sandwich and eat it while I pull on some converse.
I then walk out the door and head downstairs. I stop by Sarah's apartment to pick up her resume, as I promised I would yesterday. I knock on the door and hear grumbling coming from inside. The door swings open to a disheveled Tanner.
"If you wanna wake up Sarah, be my guest." He mutters and I walk into the apartment. I knock on Sarah's bedroom door. No answer. I walk in and see her wrap up in a big fuzzy blanket. I like the design of her room, the colours remind me of my hair. I sit on Sarah's bed and shake her gently, smoothing her hair.
"Bren, it's so early." She mutters. I don't know who Bren is, but she says it so playfully, that I just go along.
"But sweety, we need to get going." I smile, standing up so she can't hit me when she realizes I'm not who she thinks I am."Who the fuck--!" Sarah yells, swinging her arms. I smirk at her from the wall, watching her register where she is. "Oh. It's you. What do you want?"
"Someone's a little bitchy this morning . . ." I laugh lightly. "Do you have your resume? I need to be at work in five minutes." She points at her dresser and I pick up a small stack of papers and walk away. I hear Sarah growl and go back to bed.
I drive to work and approach the front desk. "Good morning, Mr. Ramsay. Coffee?" Jessica, the assistant, greets me at the door.
"Sure! I overheard that you were looking for more secretaries, I just met someone who would be perfect for the job. She doesn't have much experience, but she's easily trainable and very passionate about music." I do my best to sell Sarah enthusiastically, though it's difficult because of the earliness.
"Do you have her resume? Can she work a photocopier, coffee maker, or a computer?" Jessica asks, with serious hope in her eyes.
"Erm, I'm pretty sure anyone can do that." I reply, handing her the resume I have in my hand. "Listen, I've got a meeting, but you can page me later and we'll talk about it." I smile and wave at her as I walk up the stairs to the third floor. I walk into our studio and see that the other guys are there already. I sit down as the meeting begins. I hope that Sarah gets the job.
