Sarah's POV
Josh and I are sitting on the kitchen counter in Marianas Trench's studio, after being walked in on by Matt. It's not like we were doing anything wrong, he was just tickling me. "Let me go talk to him." Josh insists, hopping off the counter to go after Matt.
"No, it's fine. Let them think whatever. Nothing's going on between us, and as long as we both know that, it doesn't matter." I sigh, jumping down to stand in front of him.
"But I don't want the guys to think we're a thing, when we clearly aren't." He's such an ass! Does he not see that telling me that we aren't a thing is only making it harder for me to stay away? It's the Brendon situation all over again . . . I want to trust him, something inside me is telling me it's time to move on, but I just can't.
I have a great idea! "What if we make them believe that we are? Dating, I mean." If we get everyone to believe that Josh and I are a couple, then maybe I can get to know him better and actually learn to trust people again. It'll be like a weird kind of therapy . . .
"What? That's a terrible idea, Sare." Oh god. That nickname again. Now, not only was it something my dad called me, but also something Brendon used to call me. I grimace and continue on with my point. I'm not sure if Josh notices.
"Why the hell not? It would be a great bonding experience, and it's not like we would actually be a couple, we'd only be acting like one. It'll be fun!"
Josh stops to think for a second and sighs. "Fine, but if they catch us, I have the right to say I told you so." We shake on it and he pulls me to his chest. "Might as well start practicing, princess." He smiles and twirls me around in a circle.
"See!" I hear Matt's voice and turn around to see him and the rest of the band walking into the kitchen. No turning back now, I guess. "They're definitely a thing. You owe me a 20, Ian." Ian begrudgingly pulls out a leather wallet and hands Matt a bright green bill.
"That was quick, you didn't even wait a day. Congrats, man." Mike smiles and gives Josh a hug and me a high five. "Welcome to the fam jam, kid!" He is way too enthusiastic about this. It's almost like they all knew this was coming.
"Come here, hun." Josh winks slightly, unnoticeable to the guys, but very much noticeable to me. I walk over to him and give him a quick hug. "How do you feel about PDA?" He whispers into my ear.
"I'm not a big fan." I whisper back. He smiles, keeping his arm around me, and puts his face in my hair. Nobody's done that before, not even Brendon.
"Well, I think it's about time we went home." Ian announces and walks out of the kitchen, bringing the other guys with him.
I look at Josh with a smirk. "I guess we know how to clear a room." I laugh. There's a curious look on Josh's face, and I arch an eyebrow.
"Let's get down to business," He sings and grabs my hand, pulling me through another door on the other side of the kitchen. "To defeat the huns!"
"Why are we singing Mulan?" I giggle as we run into a dark hallway. "And where are we?" It reminds me of when Brendon took me to that abandoned cabaret . . .
"It's a secret, I'll tell you when we get there." Josh laughs and keeps dragging me forward. I'm not sure how he knows where we're going when there aren't any lights, but I'm just gonna go with it.
"Joshua." I grumble, I hate surprises. "Tell me where you're taking me, or I'll stop letting you pretend to be my boyfriend."
"Whoa! Chill out there, kiddo. Let's not get ambitious." Josh stops to turn to me, chuckling. Though I can't see him, I can feel his breath on my face. I guess he likes me, then.
"Fine, I'll just make your life a living hell." I say evilly. Josh continues to drag me along again, laughing even more at my attempt of black mail.
"Did you know that payback, is a mother fucker?" He says back in the same tone I used. It sends chills down my spine. Shit, he's good.
The hallway finally turn into a room where there's lights. I blink to adjust my eyes and see that we're just around the corner from Chad's office. "How'd we get here, and why was it so dark?"
"Well, my dear, there are things that I know, and you will never find out. Follow me." He pulls me into an office and sits at the desk.
"What are you doing?" I ask, looking at him with disapproval. I'm not sure if we're supposed to, or allowed to be here.
"I'm signing you." That's the last thing I remember before I fall to the floor in shock. I thought Josh and I were alibis.
