Josh's POV
I wake up and stretch my arms out, yawning. My hand brushes against a body. I turn to see who it is and realize that Sarah never left last night. "Sare! It's 7, we gotta get up for work." I'm secretly panicking about what her roommates will think of her. She just spent the night with me, holy shit.
"Good morning to you too, Mr. Ramsay." Sarah smirks then her mouth makes a perfect little o. "Oh shit! I gotta go. See you at work, and thanks for the therapy!" She grabs her slippers and house key and rushes towards the front door.
"What, no kiss?" I laugh as I pull clothes out of my dresser.
"Not today, hun!" She yells as the door swings closed. I can say one thing after meeting Sarah Zeal, she's definitely putting some spice in my life. I laugh with a sigh and get dressed into a black tee and red skinny jeans. I grab a coke zero from the fridge and shove on my converse.
I knock on Sarah's apartment door and am greeted by Ryan in shorts and a baggy t-shirt. "Oh? This should be good."
I'm confused, until I see Sarah from behind her looking shocked to see me.
"Erm . . . hey. I was wondering if you wanted to carpool to work?" I grimace and decide to turn around. Of course not, she must be feeling ashamed."Sure!" I didn't expect this answer. Sarah is actually letting me in, and it's intriguing, what with her past and all. I can judge by the expression on Ryan's face, that this is uncharacteristic of Sarah, but maybe she's just starting to accept her past.
We walk out to my car and I open the passenger side door for Sarah. "M'lady." I smile.
"Kind sir." She smiles back. God, her smile is amazing. I close the door and run to the other side of the car. "So, I think this fake relationship is going pretty well, so far. It's almost like it's real . . . " considering the fact that she came to me at night, instead of one of her best friends that live in her apartment.
"Maybe when I'm eighteen, we could . . . see if it works out." Wow. I never expected her to ever let this happen, it gives me hope for her. The only thing I can possibly be worried about is Brendon coming back, but he's in jail, so that's highly unlikely.
"I'd like that." I smile as we pull out of the apartment parking lot and toward our work.
*****
Matt and I sit in my apartment, playing video games. We get pretty competitive sometimes, especially when it's just the two of us.
"You know, it's close to Canada day, you should ask Sarah if she wants to see the fireworks with you or something." Matt claps a hand on my shoulder and smiles broadly. "We could do, like, a quadruple date or some shit like that." He suggests. I laugh and shake my head. It would be a good way for Sarah to meet new people from around here, more girls. All she had is Ryan, and she's not a very great role model.
In any case, Nicole, Kim and Elise are all sweet, I just hope Amanda, my crazy ex, doesn't show up. Thinking about her sends a shudder through my body and Mike gives me a look of concern.
"You OK, bro?" He asks, pausing the game and walking towards me. I nod, rubbing my temples a little. Jesus, get yourself together, Josh.
"Yeah, just someone walking over my grave," I shrug it off and stand up. "I'm gonna go find Sarah now," I try for a smile and run out of the apartment to go ask Sarah to the fireworks.
