Chapter 9: Selena

“What about this one?” I asked.

Jacinta had given me a detailed summary of the phone call. It included everything, Krissy from Florida, the formal party, leaving school early, boys and more...

Right now Jacinta and I were on the hunt for an exquisite dress for Florida Krissy.

“Red wouldn’t be …”

“Got it,” I said as I placed the red dress back on the rack.

Beep, beep. Beep, beep.

It was Selena’s phone,

You’ve got a message ….

Then mine rang.

I flipped my phone open.

Read text.

“Selena, I found it!” Jacinta shouted. I walked over to her. In her hands was a light blue strapless dress. It was perfect for Krissy. The hems on the side were sewn tightly into seams, making it tight and sexy, enough to flaunt her curves.

“That’s just what Amethyst ordered.”

Jacinta smiled.

“I have an idea!” Jacinta shouted enthusiastically. We were in the lobby of the grand hotel.

“What crazy schemes are on your mind this time?”

Jacinta chuckled. “Since, we couldn’t have the birthday party yesterday don’t you think we should do it tomorrow?”

“That’s not much of a crazy idea after all, Einstein.”

“Just like we planned before, a mini surprise party at our house from six to twelve,”

I laughed. “Amethyst would be able to wear that dress we just got her!”

 “Yes!”

“Then why are we still here? We have invitations to send.”

We held out our phones and smiled devilishly.

Amethyst

“Is this the routine that you follow every single night?” I asked Krissy. We have already walked halfway to the cemetery.

“Sometimes,” She replied. “I am human after all; I need a break now and then.”

“What about day time?”

“What about it?”

“Don’t you have work?”

“This is work.”

“You said it was duty, destiny and something else.”

“I just hang about at my watcher’s place usually and train. That was what I did when I finished school. Before then I just went to school normally until my shift, or something abnormal came up and I had to run off.”

“Oh,”

“Luckily you’re wearing sweatpants and joggers. You’ll be training today.”

I didn’t remember what I had on. I looked down.
