Chapter 10: Selena
At last Friday came around. Sam and Zach checked us out early in the morning and we were heading straight home now.
The bus ride was long and bumpy.
“Sam?”
“Hm?” he turned to look at me.
I kissed him.
“Can I borrow your phone,” I whispered.
He smiled. “Sure.”
He was fumbling with it in his hands.
“I love you,” I said as I snatched the phone from him.
“Zach.” I called across the seat. Jacinta and Zach were sitting directly opposite to us.
“What is it?”
“Can we swap seats? I need to talk to Jacinta.”
Zach looked at Jacinta, she nodded and he stood up.
I kissed Sam again. “I’ll be right back,”
I walked over and sat next to her.
I went through Sam’s phone book. He sure had a tone of girl’s number in here. Focus, this isn’t the time to get jealous. Finally I found the name I was searching for.
“Jacinta.” She looked down and smiled. She knew what I was thinking. Amethyst was confused, and Jacinta wanted to call him and ask for the truth, now was the perfect time.
Jacinta took the phone out of my hand and called.
“Hello,” he had picked up before the second ring.
“Vincent,”
“Jacinta?”
“Yeah, Selena is here as well.” I was close enough to hear him entirely.
“What’s wrong?”
“Amy.” Jacinta answered brusquely.
“What about her?” Vincent was confused that Jacinta brought Amethyst up.
“Do you like her?”
“You called just to ask me that?”
“Yes!”
“Does it matter?”
“Obviously,”
“Jacinta, she’s been avoiding me.”
“Maybe it’s because you said or done something to cause her to react that way.”
“Your hint isn’t clear.”
“It’s not supposed to be.” I gestured for the phone, “Selena wants to talk to you.”
“Hey Vincent,”
He sighed. “Selena, what’s happening? What’s wrong with Amethyst? I haven’t seen her in days.”
“You’re worried about her!” I stated. “You like her right?”
“I’m asking as a friend.”
“What do you mean as a friend? And how come you haven’t seen her in days?”
“She wasn’t in school.”
“Not even today?”
“Not even a minute.”
“That sneaky little girl!” I muttered. “Well, at least you noticed that,”
“Mr. Rhine asked for her.” Stupid Travis always has to get in the way!
