Rescue and Return

Dart:

"How did you do that?" James asked as he followed after me. I was totally focused. My dream had told me that Bucky had let both his wife, my mother, and me become leverage, and I did not want to give me enemies the chance to do the same thing with Levi.

"My mom."

"Your what?"

"Mom! She had teleportation and healing abilities!" I was walking fast, trying to get up to the launch pad before anyone woke up.

"Daniella, hold up!" James grabbed my arm and pulled me to a stop. "Let's go and get Levi, but we have to do this the right way."

"If you tell me that we have to wait until everyone wakes up and talk this over with them-"

"No, but we can't storm in there and take him, we need to get custody back. You put him up for adoption, now you have to prove that you deserve to have him back."

"We, we have to prove that."

He hugged me and I returned it for a second.

"Come on, we need to get moving." I tried to pull away, but James planted a kiss on me.

"Let's go and get our son."

"I had forgotten how much I hate flying." James gripped his seat belt as I banked around several buildings and pulled us into a climb.

"We lived on a giant floating plane for weeks, why is this different?"

"Because you're at the wheel."

"Miss Barnes, Tony Stark is calling in, would you like to answer?"

"No." I responded immediately, I did not have to tell Tony where I was going in his jet.

"Put him through JARVIS." James said and I shot him a glare. "We are on a team now, sponsored by Stark, we have to communicate."

"Mind telling me why you took my jet at 3 in the morning?" A virtual display of him popped up on the lower left corner of the window. "Also, how are you flying with that leg of yours?"

"I learned some new tricks and I gotta run some errands." I shrugged and steered us towards Ohio.

"Tricks? I've got surveillance footage here of you walking around normally when your knee was destroyed days ago!"

I didn't respond, internally raving about the fact that he was spying on all of us. I registered that it was because of Josh's recent attack and Tony was being protective, but I was pissed at the loss of privacy it meant.

"James, would you like to explain?"

"She just woke up and started insisting we had to go. She healed her own knee when i tried to get her in the wheelchair."

"Levi. You guys are going after Levi?"

There was a pause, I wasn't going to answer and James probably didn't answer because he knew I didn't want him to.

"You aren't old enough to be parents, you haven't been thr-"

"JARVIS, end communication." James said and Tony disappeared from sight.

"Thank you."

"Where is he?"

"Columbus, Ohio in an adoptive center. That's 535 miles from here, and at the rate we are going, it will take us a little over 50 minutes to get there." I leveled us off above the clouds and switched on stealth mode, Hydra was still a threat and I was not going to take any risks.
