I was finally able to sit my ass in its rightful place by the window after waiting about a million hours for the plane to be ready. God, how long does it take to tell old passengers from wherever the hell they came from to get the fuck out and refuel the plane?
Holly sat in the middle seat, between me and Luke. Of fucking course, Luke had to sit next to her. I swear he's going to fuck this whole fake relationship up.
"Are you going to take your sleeping pill yet?" Holly asked, raising her eyebrow at me.
"Don't sound too eager, princess," I smirked at her.
"God," she mumbles under her breath.
"And I still don't forgive you for slapping me last week," I inform her, already getting hard at the thought of it.
"And I still don't care whether or not you forgive me," she replies, making me frown.
Holy shit, this girl fucking knew how to get on last nerves. She infuriates me. How the hell am I going to put up with her for our entire "relationship" what with her mocking me and all that shit?
Ugh.
As soon as the plane takes off and we're completely safe in the air, I reach down into my bag in search of my sleeping pills, only to find out that the whole bottle was empty. I had used them all.
Fuck!
"Realized you ran out of drugs?" Holly grinned at me.
I tugged at my hair with my hands stressfully. First the pills, now her? Again?
"They're not drugs," I groaned, hoping that one of the other passengers on the plane didn't overhear her. "Now how am I suppose to sleep?"
"Oh, I don't know, maybe closing your eyes would be a good start." she remarked.
"It's not that easy for me," I huffed.
"For you?" she furrowed her eyebrows. "You know, Calum, you're not the only person on this planet with insomnia."
"It's not insomnia-" I cut myself off, trying to take a deep breath. "I get nightmares, or flashbacks - same difference - if I don't take any sleeping pills. Shit."
Holly glanced at me with a worried look, as if she was actually concerned for my mental state. "Geez, calm down."
"Why don't you go bother Luke?" I snapped at her. "He seems to enjoy your sarcastic blows."
"He's asleep," she said. "Something you can't seem to do right now."
"Dammit, Holly," I gritted my teeth.
I looked at Luke, who was indeed fast asleep. I was jealous. I'm currently jealous at every person who can sleep at ease without having to swallow a pill to rid away their shitty memories.
"Hey," I hear Holly whisper in an attempt to console me. "Just... calm down. Lay your head back and let sleep come to you. Relax."
I wanted to give her a sarcastic reply, but I feel like that would only worsen my lack of sleep at the moment. Then she speaks again.
"...And watch the clouds. I heard that's what you like to do."
I looked at her. "Who told you?"
"Luke."
I rolled my eyes. Of course.
My eyes are suddenly trained on the white puffs surrounding the plane, breaking off into shapes only my mind could create.
