I love you echoed through my head over and over. I didn’t know what to do or say. I was so dumbfound and speechless that I just had to sit there for a minute. I thought long and hard about how I was going to respond to her text. Then I realized one thing. I loved her too.

“That left me speechless” I sent her first. “But I love you too”.

After I sent the text I realized that though I just woke up from a three day nap, I was exhausted and that I had to get some sleep.

“Goodnight beautiful, call me if you need anything” I sent her before turning my volume up and falling asleep.

I remember hearing my phone going off and me scrambling for it.

“Hello” I said in a slurred voice.

“Robert I need you” Fiona’s voice came from the other end.

I jolted awake and immediately asked what was wrong.

“I need it” I heard her say. “I need the blood and the pain”.

I quickly looked over to the clock to see that it was five thirty.

“How long can you last” I asked as I was getting dressed.

“Not much longer” she said. “Why?”

“Just keep thinking about our first kiss” I told her as I left a note saying I would be back sometime later.

I bolted out the door hearing her ask why she should be thinking about it. I told her she didn’t have to think about it. She could think about any of our kisses. I was hoping my distraction was working but I couldn’t tell. I finally arrived outside of her house. Once I figured out which window hers was I started throwing little pieces of gravel and pebbles at it. She told me to hang on because some maniac was throwing crap at her window.

She opened her window and started to yell knock it off, but when she saw me her jaw just dropped. I saw her shut her window and I heard click. My phone call had just ended. I saw her front door open and close quickly. I watched as her shadow danced across the lawn before she finally arrived in front of me.

“What are you doing here” she asked as she leaned in for a hug.

“I promised to be here for you when you needed it and if I make a promise I keep it” I told her.

“You didn’t have to do that” she said.

She looked as if she was more upset at the fact that I was here then she was that she wanted to cut.

“Hey” I told her. “I want to be here. You don’t need to feel bad because It’s only five thirty. If I didn’t want to be here I wouldn’t be, now cheer up.”

I saw a slight smile peak from her face before I told her that she looked beautiful.

“No I don’t” she said. “I look like shit. I look like my dog ate shit and then threw it up” she continued.

By this time I really didn’t want to argue with her so I pulled her in close and kissed her.

“I love you” I said as I pulled away.

By this time I could see that cutting wasn’t even close to what she was thinking about.

“Do you have any plans for today” I asked politely.

“No” she said. “Why do you ask?”

“I was thinking, maybe we could go out, catch a movie or something” I asked hopefully.

“Hmm” she hummed. “I have something even better” she said.

“Oh really” I asked. “And what would that be?”

“Okay, so I told you how my stepdad works as the IT in the dodgers stadium right” she asked.

“Yea why” I responded.

“Well they pay him and give him free tickets to the games on the weekends” she said. “I’m not normally into baseball games because they are either by myself or with my stepdad but I think it would be fun if we went together” she said.

“That would be amazing” I said softly. “I haven’t been to a baseball game that I didn’t play in, in over two years” I said quietly.

“Well it’s settled then” she said. “I will get the tickets from my dad and we will go watch the Dodgers face the Rays.”

She ran inside and got the tickets and then she realized that we didn’t have a way to get there.

“I guess we should start walking” she said.

“I don’t think so” I said. “You got us into the game, I will get us there.”

I called my best friend Clint and told him my dilemma. He asked what time the game started.

“Ten thirty” I said.

“You want to get there this early” he asked.

“Yea” I told him. “We have a way to get in” I said as I was looking at Fiona nod.

“I’m on my way” he said.

When he got there he had a big toothy grin and said “So this is your new girlfriend now is it.”

Without missing a beat I responded “That’s for us to know and for me to tell you if I feel like.”

“Wouldn’t it of been easier for you to just say yes” he started teasing.

I punched him on the arm and he shut up then I helped Fi into the blazer and we were on our way to a baseball game. We were on our way to a baseball game that didn’t start for another five hours. I have never been so happy in my life.
