“I can’t do this,” I heard Fiona sob.

“Whoa, what’s wrong Fi” I asked. Fi was the nickname that I gave her when she started telling me things. The only reason I’m keeping it is because when I called her Fi, she perked up like she liked it. Then she told me she thought it was cute.

“My mom just got home from the bar and she’s screaming my name and frantically looking for me. I have never feared my life more than I do right now,” she responded.

“What is your address?” I asked. “I can probably be there within five minutes.”

“2300 Southern Boulevard Bronx, NY 10460,” she mumbled.

“I’m two blocks away. I can be there in four minutes,” I replied as I started to jog.

“Can you be here sooner?” Fiona asked as she started whimpering again.

“I will do what I can,” I said as I hung up the phone and started running.

Sure enough I was able to get there in about two minutes because I was at a full sprint. I nervously rang the doorbell and waited shortly before hearing a loud voice. “Hold on! Damn kids these days.”

“Hello Mrs. Langdon,” I said. “Is your daughter home?”

“Hell if I know, I’ve been looking for about a half hour and I can’t find her,” she responded angrily.

“May I come in?” I asked as politely as I could.

“Do whatever you want, it’s a free country,” she slurred.

“Fiona, are you in here?” I asked as I tried to soothe her.

“Be out in a minute,” she replied.

I waited a few minutes before she walked out in a beautiful red dress that was long enough to cover the vitals, yet short enough to stay young and playful.

“You look incredible,” I managed to fumble out.

I heard her mumble thanks, though I could see her blushing.

“So I was wondering...” I trailed off not knowing what to say. “Do you want to get some pizza or something?”

“I would like that” she said as she grabbed my arm and headed for the door.

“Have fun with your new boyfriend,” I heard her mother sneer nastily.

As soon as we got outside and down the street, she threw her arms around me and gave me the biggest hug I have ever had in my life.

“Thank you so much,” she said. “Nobody has ever done that for me before.”

Not knowing what to say and not wanting to be an idiot, I quickly responded with, “I asked you to pizza, now let’s get pizza.”

We walked down to the nearest Pizza Heaven and walked in.

“Rob, I don’t have any money on me,” Fiona said quickly.

“Don’t worry about it, I have this covered,” I smiled.

Without letting Fi know, I went and ordered pizza where the owner, my best friends dad, handed me some pizza and drinks.

“Evan told me about your problems at home, this is on the house,” Responded Mr. Diaz, Evans dad.

“That is very kind of you sir, I will pay you back somehow,” I responded.

“Don’t worry about paying me back Rob. Just enjoy your date,” he gave me a wink and went back to the kitchen.

“I have a large slice of pizza and a large Coke for a pretty woman,” I pretended to look around before spotting Fi. “Ah, there you are my lady! Here is you pizza and your Coke!" I set our food on the table.

“Why thank you my good sir,” she played along.

For the rest of that night, that’s all I remember. We enjoyed our pizza and we sipped our Coke before it got to about nine thirty, when she had to be home. I walked her home and the last thing she said to me was, “Thanks for the romantic evening and thanks for getting me out of my house. I owe you one Rob.” Then she gave me a quick peck on the cheek and ran inside before I could say anything else.
