Fiona’s Point Of View

“Kitten,” I thought to myself. Why did he call me Kitten? Is that his new pet name for me or something? I like that. No I don’t. Yes I do.

I was very conflicted on whether or not I liked the pet name he gave me. At first I thought it was dumb but, the more I think about it, it gets even cuter. After a few minutes I realized that I didn’t respond to his text and I didn’t want him to think that I thought what he said made me uncomfortable. I shot him a quick “That’s cute <3” and then went and took a shower. It had been a long day and after all the running around I did I felt like it was much needed. Before I got in the shower, I got a text from Robert saying that he was glad I liked it. I told him I was taking a shower and that I would text him later.

Robert’s Point Of View

What the fuck are you doing Robert? You called her kitten! What the fuck were you thinking? She is probably beyond creeped out right now you dumbass. “God, why am I so stupid!?” I asked out loud.

Soon after throwing the little fit I did, I heard my phone go off alerting me that I got a text message.

“That’s cute <3” the text read.

“I’m glad you liked it” I sent back feeling relieved.

After a few minutes of calming down and starting to breathe, Fiona sent something saying she was taking a shower and she would text me later. It was too late for me to go play baseball and I didn’t feel like going back outside anyways. I decided to hop on my Xbox and play some 2K10. For anyone who isn’t game literate, it’s the 2010 version of a baseball game. About halfway through the game, we had a power surge and I lost everything that was saved on the game. Feeling aggravated, I stopped playing and turned my T.V. on to ESPN hoping to catch the end of the Yankee versus Boston game.

The game was on, but I couldn’t pay any attention because the Yankees were winning by half a dozen. Finally my phone went back off. The text read “Why does my life suck?”

This can’t be good I thought to myself. I quickly sent back “What’s wrong?”

I got a text about ten minutes later saying that she had just ran away from home because her mom came home drunk and abusive again. I told her that I was sorry for that and asked if she wanted to meet somewhere. She told me to meet at the Pizza Heaven we had our first date at and to hurry. I got there as quickly as possible and wasn’t surprised to see her there in the booth we sat at last time crying.

“It’s going to be okay,” I told her as I sat down.

“No, It’s not,” she said trying to hold her tears back.

I moved in closer to her and put my arm around her. I pulled her closer to me as she put her head on my shoulder.

“Why do all the bad things happen to me?” She asked.

Trying not to sound too corny but also trying not to waste too much time, I responded with something like “It’s because God thinks you can handle it. It just means that he knows you are a strong individual and he knows that you will be able to get through it.”

“I know you are trying but it’s not helping,” she said.

Knowing what she said was true, I did the only other thing I could think of. I brushed her hair out of her face and I kissed her. When I finally pulled away she asked me to stay. She told me that only my kisses distracted her. Corny, yet it worked so I kissed her again. She finally pulled away after a few moments and said that when she was with me she could never think straight. She said that she loves how I leave her speechless and that I always make her happy.

“I have a crazy idea,” I told her at last.

“And what’s that?” Fiona asked.

“Come spend the night with me,” I told her. “It will be fun and it will keep you out of your house until your mother sobers up.”

“I don’t know how my dad would feel about that,” she said after a minute. “But then again, I never listen to him anyway.”

We both started laughing and she finally said that it sounded like fun and that she would love to. I slid my fingers between hers and we were out the door on the way to my house where I had to figure out how to introduce her to my mother. I decided to wing it and I told her that we were both in for a surprise when we got to my house. She looked at me puzzled and then I told her. She laughed and said not to worry because she had it under control.

We finally got to my house and I opened the door for her and we walked in. After taking about two steps inside, I saw my mother.

“Mom, this is Fiona and she is my girlfriend,” I said at last.
