Oh how I love the days where you wake up from a good, deep sleep. Like that sleep erased all your worries and troubles and everything seemed so clear. I woke up without any muddled thoughts, without any feelings of unease because of a nightmare and without any doubts.

I woke up ready to face the day.

And then I realised I'd woken up on the ground.

"I don't understand." I groaned. I must've fallen from my bed somewhere during the night. Luckily, my body didn't seem sore although my shoulder made a cracking noise when I moved.

"This is perfect. Say cheese." Jane appeared above me and made a picture with her phone. "I knew I heard a thump last night but I figured it was nothing." She grinned.

"You figured wrong. I could've been hurt." I pouted.

"You would've squealed like a little hamster if you were." Jane shrugged.

"Hamsters don't squeal, they squeak." I told her.

"Kinda like you're doing right now?" She teased. I mimicked her in a childish way and got up from the floor.

I went to the kitchen to grab the cereal but there was so little left. "We really need to go grocery shopping." I sighed. I didn't like shopping for food because when I went when I was hungry I wanted to buy everything but when I went on a full stomach, I didn't want to buy anything at all.

"I wouldn't mind surviving on take out." Jane shrugged, as if she was ready to give up on store bought food. She was ready to banish it all from her life without looking back. Unfortunately, I wasn't.

"We should make a list." I suggested.

"I knew this was too good to be true." I heard Jane mutter.

"Ooh! Maybe we should buy food for every letter of the alphabet!" I shared my awesome idea with my roommate who looked less enthusiastic as me.

"What starts with an A? Asparagus?" She opted.

"Ew. Okay, nevermind." I said, scrunching my nose. I wasn't a big fan of asparagus.

"Maybe apple... cake." Jane pondered. "Apple cake, banana cake, cupcake cake. Hey, I like this idea."

"Cupcake cake?" I giggled.

"Shit, that was such a Lu thing to say. What about laxative cake?" Jane tried to save herself.

"Let's not." I said. Mainly, because I'd forget what was in the cake until it was too late. I shuddered at the thought. "Right so first grocery shopping and then talking to my estranged ex." I told myself.

"What?!" Jane exclaimed. "You can't joke about stuff like that. You're breaking character."

"I wasn't joking." I replied matter-of-factly. I had a good feeling about this. There were so many things left unsaid between Chris and me. We needed to talk things through so we could both move on. Even though I was fairly certain he'd moved on pretty quickly. He'd moved on when we were technically still dating.

"Oh okay, so you've gone insane." Jane nodded as if that was the only rational explanation.

"No! When you weren't talking to me, I tried my best to make it up to you and when we finally talked things through, it got better. I think I need to talk to Chris in order to move on." I explained.

"Or you could delete him from your life. Lu, our little 'fight' was nothing like a break up." My friend said. There was a pleading look in her eyes she failed to mask. She was scared for me even though she'd never admit it. "You're gonna have an awkward talk and then you'll come running back here, crying your heart out. Again. Do you really want that?"
